Christmas Tree Day

Mom has had our small trees up since daylight savings time ended.     She only puts the lights on the trees as it gets darker earlier and it just seems more cheerful and cozy and it makes her happy.

This tree has wooden Airedale ornies that mom made in the past.   They are very special to us as we don't have access to a work shop or beautiful woods any longer.
The wooden ornies mom cut out on a bandsaw  and carved in places and woodburned eyes and noses.    The finish on them feels like silk and she loves to wax them with paste wax to keep them gleaming.
The woods she used were cherry, butternut, applewood, mahogany and tiger maple and there's a walnut swan on the tree too.
And  of course, there are framed ornies of me on the tree☺
This is the wreath on our back door.  These ornies are handmade by mom's mom, who was a wonderfully talented lady and of course, there are apples in memory of our beloved Mitch♥

Happy Wednesday and Happy Christmas Tree Day!

Love ya lots♥

Molly

  2. Happy Christmas Tree Day and we just love your AireTree. You are so very clever making the Airedale ornaments just like your Mom and her beautiful hand painted ones. The Wreath looks very Christmasy and the tartan ribbon is a favourite of ours. We are sure that the lights look warm and cosy and make the room wonderful for evenings and Christmas. 10. Oh, I absolutely love those wooden ornaments. Rob bought me a scroll saw to make my own Portie ornaments but I'm allergic to the sawdust. He uses it now and then but I so wish I could. You and your Mom should come here and play with my saw.
