Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~~

We had dreary, rainy and humid weather earlier in the week.   On one of those days, we decided to take a chance and head out and hope that we didn't get wet.   The leaves are peak and falling fast.

Because of the higher temps and humidity, the scent of autumn was beyond fantastic!

The Sycamore tree bark is shiny when it's wet and the camouflage effect really pops.   

One morning, as we headed out for business, we discovered a Katydid trying to stay dry on our porch.

Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~~

Mom picked some bittersweet that wasn't opened yet and brought it inside.

Once the bittersweet feels the warmth of inside the house, it doesn't take long for it to burst open.   

Poison Ivy is so pretty in its autumn color~

Because of our drought, the leaves are showing color but they are falling more quickly.

The latest puzzle~   Mom said it was a blast to do but taking it apart was very time consuming.  The pieces lock so well that you have to take the puzzle apart piece by piece!  Not fun!

The leaves smell so wonderful - especially when the weather is humid and wet!

Molly Monday

 Mom has read bad things more than once about using dryer sheets so she decided to give these wool balls a go.  Today was the first day that we used them.  To be honest, she did get some static on a fleece top but nothing to make her not want to use them again and we can't comment about making the laundry dry faster because we didn't check.

I get the feeling that once again, she's trying to trick me into think these are larger tennis balls.   Sorry, mom - it didn't work!

Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy today for Nature Friday~~

After DAYS of rain, it is so nice to be able to walk again even though everything is soaked.  The autumn colors are beginning to make a showing☺

How come Miss Dotty gets berries on some of her Lily of the Valley and we don't~

The Hosta flowers are looking very purple and very pretty!

The sun is feeling wonderful on my furs!

Tasty Tuesday

 Mom made Apple Butter Muffins for the very first time~

The recipe~

• 3⁄4cup apple butter
• 2teaspoons cinnamon
• 1⁄2teaspoon clove
• 1⁄2cup water
• 1⁄2cup canola oil
• 1 1⁄4cups brown sugar
• 2large eggs
• 1 3⁄4cups all-purpose flour, sifted
• 1teaspoon baking soda
• 3⁄4teaspoon salt

We added 1/4 cup of dried cranberries to the batter also.

DIRECTIONS

• In a mixing bowl, combine the apple butter, cinnamon and cloves.
• Whisk in the water, then oil, then brown sugar, then the eggs (not all together). Mix until smooth.
• Sift together (important so you don't get white lumps in your dark bread), flour, baking soda and salt. Then combine with the apple butter mixture and mix until smooth.
• Pour into a greased 9-inch loaf pan or 3 to 4 mini-loaf pans.
• Bake at 350F for 65-70 minutes for the 9-inch pan or 45-50 minutes for the mini-loaves.
• Let stand for 10-15 minutes to cool slightly before removing from the pans and letting cool completely on a wire rack.

Our muffins took about 35 minutes to bake.

These muffins were spicy, moist and delicious and we will make them again!
