Happy Teddy Bear Day

We read on Rosy's blog this morning that today is Teddy Bear Day!  Mom has a teddy bear that she has had since her very first Christmas, which was a long time ago and almost makes him an official antique.     He's a Knickerbocker teddy.

He's mohair and he used to be a darker brown and he used to growl when you turned him upside down and he had a pretty yellow bow that is long gone but he's still intact for a handsome old guy.   Mom had very high value treats so I wouldn't touch him☺
He spends his life way up high in the cedar closet so he stays safe.

Happy Teddy Bear Day and Happy Monday!

Love ya lots♥
Duke

  5. Duke this is definitely a precious toy that your mommy has. We appreciate seeing it today because some of us older folks remember having terrific toys as children.

  8. You are such a good boy to lay so close to a stuffy and not want to rip it to shreds. I would have a difficult time resting such a temptation. What a special treasure that teddy bear is for your mom.

  9. What a nice bear. Mom never realized until yesterday, she never really had a teddy bear. She had a ton of other types of stuffed animals, most of which are now in our guest room closet. Your mom's bear looks great for being an older bear.

  10. That's a beautiful teddy bear, Duke! #1 tells me she never had any teddy bears growing up. She got her first one as a gift when she was in her 40s!

    Woofs,
    Ollie

  11. How incredibly special - Mom did invoke the teddy bear words yesterday as a long ago blog pal - Shannon who had a human pup named Wren - lives around the Poconos - and there was a bear in the tree outside her bedroom window -

  12. Chaplin: "Our Dada has lots of old stuffies like that, including a Teddy Bear who started to fall apart, so his Nana made the bear a little red suit and a hat to keep him together!"
Charlee: "All of our Dada's stuffies are on a shelf in his office way back in the corner where Dennis couldn't get them, especially since Dennis actually managed to snag one once—"
    Chaplin: "Orphan Orange!"
Charlee: "—and take him out in the yard. Fortunately Dada recovered Orphan Orange before Dennis had a chance to do his thing, and all the poor Orphan suffered was a bite wound to the belly, which Dada stitched up with orange thread."
Chaplin: "Well, since Dada had so many stitches when he was little, it kind of makes sense that his stuffie would have stitches too, right?"

  13. What a lovely teddy bear, Duke. Mom is wise to keep him at a safe distance. You could have great fun playing with teddy but I'm afraid his lifespan would be shortened.

  14. Happy Teddy Bear Day! I still have my Teddy from when I was little and he does look a little worse for wear and DH has his. We bought the Boys Teddies when they were born and bought Little Man his for when he was born. They are wonderful toys and such a great tradition. Hugs & Love, Susie & Coco xx
