Hi everyone! It's me - Autumn!
Maggie has blogged about the dollhouse that gram and gramp started years ago when they lived in Louisiana and then they moved to Minnesota and the rooms were wallpapered and electricity was put in and furniture was bought and arranged in the dollhouse! They moved from Minnesota to Florida and by then the dollhouse was completed and it was a thing of beauty! The dollhouse has moved once again and this time it came to our house and mom now owns it! We wanted to take you around the inside and show you how absolutely adorable it is! Mom says that if she could make herself smaller, she would LOVE to live in this house!
This is the outside of the front! This dollhouse is about 66" long so it's a good size and it's very hard to place in our house so that you can see both the inside and the outside at once!
Before Mitch came to live with us, the inside was always facing us and you could peer in all the time but puppies help themselves to whatever they want and it wasn't long before mom pushed the house up against the wall so that Mitch couldn't snag anything!
Shall we go inside?!
This is the kitchen and it's my favorite room! All of the floors in the house are chestnut! Dad milled them for gram and gramp!
Leaving the kitchen, we go into the dining room! Don't you just want to sit down and have dindin?!
We're leaving the dining room and going into the hallway! There is pipe organ on the wall and a pram near the front door waiting for the baby to be taken for a walkie and upstairs is a small chapel. It has a stained glass window but it's not showing up too well in this picture!
Leaving the hallway, we head into the music room! There is a piano in this room and a harp and violins! The person who lives here must be a very talented musician!
The last room on the first floor is the game room! There is a fireplace in here and it's paneled in a dark rich walnut! The table has a game of monopoly set up so pull up a chair and let's play!
Upstairs over the game room is the sewing room! A lot of creative stuff goes on in this room!
Leaving the sewing room, we head into a bedroom! What a comfy room!
Looked who just hopping up on the bed! It's the family Airedale! How come she gets to sleep on the bed and Maggie and Mitch don't?!
Leaving the first bedroom we head through the small chapel and into the nursery! Gosh, there's another piano in here and a fireplace for the baby! That's one lucky kid! This room is pretty much pink!
Leaving the nursery, we head into the last room on second floor, which just happens to be another bedroom! What a cozy room! If I had to choose one, I'd choose this bedroom! How about you?
This is the entire house looking from the back!
I hope you've enjoyed the tour of the doll house! I sure had fun showing it to you!
See you all next Wednesday!
Love, Autumn
That is one amazing doll's house! A huge amount of time and skill obviously went into producing it - it is really magnificent.

Hi Guys
ReplyDeleteOur mum adsolutely loves doll houses so really enjoyed looking around yours.
The detail is so amazing! Hard to pick a favourite as the rooms are all great in different ways. The kitchen was amazing - hub of the home and had so many little details. Well worth bigifying the picture!
Of course all that food near floow level meant there could not be a basset hound in the house! Even a mop and bucket!!!
Thanks for taking the time to photograph your doll's house it was lovely to see.
love

What a great tour, Autumn! Our dad used to build dollhouses and our mom wallpapered them, put the cedar roofs on and landscaped the outside. That was waaaay back when we had some little kids in our family. Your Gram and Gramps must be as talented as your mom and dad! That is one pawsome dollhouse!

WOW Autumn, that is a gorgeous doll house - something about the outside reminds us of Mt. Vernon - one of our Mom's favorite places.
ReplyDeleteWe can see why your Mom had to put it against the all to keep Mitch out - Piper would love to be able to sink his sharp teeth into all of those pretty things.
XOXO

That dollhouse is truly a labour of love. We'd have to have it against a wall here, too. I'd leave it alone, but Mica would be playing hockey with all those tiny accessories and furniture. Mommy would like to de-biggify herself and move in!

THAT was one AWESOME dollhouse. My mom has a kit to make one that she wants to use someday, but will probably never get around to, but it would NEVER be as SUPER as that one is! She loves to go an look at the ones at the Fair every year, too, and yours would take first place, hands down, against any that she has seen there!
ReplyDeleteI just came over from Travis blog and wanted to say congrats for winning that review contest! OC from Country Corgis
That's a fine dollhouse, Autumn. I bet Mitch would love to eat some of the furniture in there. I know BabyRD & Hootie would. We have a southern mansion doll house too,& it's in my hubby's shed up in Idaho for now. Too big to keep in our condo here in Phx.Yours is way more done than ours though. Our daughter grew up b4 we got any electricity in it.
