We won the GABE give-away from Sally Ann and Mack and these beautiful Georgia Bulldog collars arrived! Sally Ann says they're the PAWTY collars so this means that they are just perfect for us! We love to pawty! Many of you don't know this but before I, Miss Maggie, was born, mom and dad owned an English Bulldog.
Meet Bubba Louise~Bubba was born in 1985 and she lived until February 1998. She was 13 years old when she passed away. Mom often times feels very badly because Bubba didn't have the same comfy and spoiled life-style that Mitch and I have. They also didn't have a digital camera back then so we don't have many pictures of her. She was an absolute sweetheart and stubborn as all get-out! And you're probably wondering how the heck mom and dad went from a Bulldog to an Airedale, because we are totally opposite personalities! Mom and dad wanted a breed of dog that could walk a 2-mile walkie with them and not appear to be near death's door when the walk was over! Don't laugh - it happened and it scared the crap out of mom and our sissy, Melissa, one day!
So in the autumn of 1998, I came into mom and dad's life and walkies were fast-paced and mom and dad had to yell at me to "slow down, Maggie!"Bulldog paraphernalia you ask? We don't have as much Bulldog stuff as we do Airedale stuff but what we do have is very special to us.The Georgia Bulldog collar looks great on our Christmas Bulldog who sings and rocks!Thank you so very much for these awesome collars, Sally Ann and Mack! They are very special to us and now you know the real reason why! And who knows, there could be another Bubba in mom and dad's life one day and we would be more than willing to share our special collars with him or her! Life is full of surprises that way, isn't it!So until next time....................
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Woohoo! Congrats on winning the cool collars!
ReplyDeleteWe always wonder why peeps choose to switch to Airedales afer some other breed. What a cool story. RIP, Bubba!

Hi Maggie and Mitch
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations on winning the prize and on your wonderful new collars.
Double nice cos we got to hear all about Bubba Louise.
We confess we don't know too much about English Bulldogs but they look very cool!
As for being stubborn.......well we can't compare to bassets cos we never knew a bulldog.
The main difference would be in the walking as we were bred to track scents for hours.
People often confuse bassets with being an inactive breed but that is not the case.
We loved seeing Bubba's pics - she looks a real character!

Nice to meet Bubba. She was very pretty and had a good life I am sure. Must have been quite a shock though to have your lively wee terrier self after a well mannered pup like Bubba.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
You two could be good role models for a little Bulldog pup. Think of all the fun things you could teach him or her.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie! I like your new collar!
ReplyDeleteBubba was a real cutie! I can relate to her lack of... umm, athleticism. My walks are just twice around the block, and when we get home I have to lay on the tile floor for an hour to cool down! hehehe! I guess us smoosh-faced dogs have other endearing traits.

We digress as usual.

Those are very much great collars, Maggie and Mitch. And I SO luved to hear about Bubba! It looks like Bubba was very luved and very special.
ReplyDeleteDogs with squishy faces definitely gets most hot. My cuzin Phoebe one time went for a walk with my mom on a hot day and all of a sudden she laid down IN THE STREET and refused to move another step. Mom had to carry her all the way home.

Hi Maggie and Mitch,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the contest!!
Your both are a lucky bunch!!
Airedales are a very special breed I've learned from you guys.
Thanks for your story about Bubba.
I like to know about other pets you had in the past. My Bruce didn't get the great care that Joker, Amanda, and Bambi has gotten and I feel really bad about that too!!!!! But Bruce taught me and I wish I had him again. I am too old now for a big dog. Bambi, she is too big for me now, but she wasn't 12 years ago.
I don't like getting ticks either, but what am I going to do about it???
XXOO, Bambi & Fern
