Ever since I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, mom has been on a mission to find something natural that can be combined with my Frontline to keep those ticks away from me and from Mackie.
She found articles online here and here that got her really excited.
So off to Amazon she goes to get us some Rose Geranium Essential Oil.
We are so sick and tired of hearing her say, "Both of you smell sooooo beautiful!" We are not supposed to smell like roses, mom!
Fingers and paws are crossed here that no more ticks are found crawling on the floor or on us. Ticks are yucky!
We are off to Lenny and Joe's for fish-n-chips!
Love ya lots♥
Molly and Mackie
Sniff sniff yes indeedy you both smell very floral..but that is a good thing if it is working. We will change the name of it to Summer Essence of AireDale...
ReplyDeleteHow were the fishNchips? I love the last two photos
Hugs madi your bfff
Essential oils are big in my human family, but on a pup? Never heard of that! Unless my momma has an oil that smells like freshly rolled in squirrel poop, I'll be saying no to oils!
ReplyDeleteWe have never heard of using that essential oil for tick prevention! How interesting! And good to know you can safely use it with Frontline -- we sometimes think the fleas and ticks develop immunity to that!
ReplyDeleteMmm... fish and chips! We hope you enjoyed!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
WE sure hope those roses keep those crappy ticks away from you. Fish and chips sound so good. stella rose
ReplyDeleteYou both must smell lovely, we quite agree with your Mom. I will have to remember that tip although we don't have many ticks here. Mackie you have some very long legs. Hugs, Susie & Treacle xx
ReplyDeleteLovely to smell like Roses, Molly and Mackie!! Hope the oil will keep yucky stuff away. Paws crossed!
ReplyDeleteMomo & Pinot xo
ps: Did you say fish-n-chips?? Luchy ones!
Ciara might not mind that geranium smell, but lightning would not be a very happy boy either!!! Fish and chips much better than ticks:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Ciara and Lightning
Sweet smelling and sweet smiles too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the fish and chips!
How interesting, let us nose how you get on, it would be great to find a natural remedy fur ticks!

It might be worth it to smell like a rose, if it keeps the ticks away...but we think smelling like Fish and Chips would be better...just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteOh I am going to try this with Ruby - to protect from ticks AND make her smell as sweet as a rose~
ReplyDeleteWe will keep an eye out, to see how the oils work out....

Crikey Molly ..... I didn't know you had Lyme's disease. I'm so far behind with all the news because of Mum's eyes. I try to keep up but I somehow missed this news. I do hope you are ok. Can they treat Lyme's diease? Our ticks are paralysis ticks and they KILL us so we have to be very careful in tick areas. Mum's going to try that rose oil stuff. She uses a mix of different oils on me and they work real good but I don't smell too good when I have it on. She wants me to smell like a rose too. OMD!!! thanks for nothing, aye?? Say g'day to Mackie for me. Crikey he's getting big, aye??
ReplyDeleteOUr mom likes to use natural stuff with us too if she can. We will read about that oil. There is also a company called Wondercide that sells natural flea & tick stuff. It uses cedar oil.

We really, REALLY hope that the oil helps you!!! Sometimes homeopathic is the way to go. Fish and Chips are the BEST!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom read about that, too and didn't even THINK of Amazon. She's so not up to par... Instead she got me something called Cedarcide. It smells pretty good, too. And "there ain't no ticks on me!"

This was really interesting. Thank you. Having lost Digby to a tick we've found that the best solution is to make sure that Frontline is applied every 3 weeks ( Avantix is better but our dogs seem to react to it badly ) and make sure that they always wear a Scalibor collar. The organic remedies don't seem to work against deer ticks and we've found the Scalibor collar does. Here the peak tick season is April-May and again September - October. Extreme cold and extreme heat seem to kill them off.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know how this works. I am trying to find something natural to repel ticks on the boys. We have only found 1 on Pierre but that is 1 too many. Mmmmm! Fish & Chips sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could do a smiley. Insert smiley face!
ReplyDeleteWe sure hope that smelly stuff helps keep the ticks away as well as make you smell good.
ReplyDeleteOur mommy will try to remember this Rose Geranium stuff for future reference.
ReplyDeleteWe are SO sorry that you have to smell good....BOL. Hoomans like that kind of stuff.
