Gram's Treasures

Mom and her brother, Mark, and her daughter, Melissa, had a great time in Florida.   Naturally, there were sad moments but they stayed busy and focused and made many new memories.

The man walking the plank is Carl.  Carl lost EVERYTHING in the recent Louisiana floods.  Carl is getting lots of mom's furniture and her washer and dryer and pots and pans and dishes and silverware and a bed and many other needed items.  Carl and Dan are driving the U-Haul truck from Florida to Connecticut carrying lots of goodies and then they head back to Louisiana.
No, we don't get to take the golf cart.   Bummer!
Mom and Mark and Melissa had lunch at Ocean Grill
She said the fried oysters were the bestest ever!
This was their view out the window of the restaurant.
Yes, it was a wee bit breezy that day☺
They stayed at the Hyatt Regency at Orlando AirePort before flying home on Thursday.
This is artwork in the AirePort called "The Traveler".   He sure did look real!
Carl and Dan and the U-Haul truck have arrived.   We have a new recliner that was gram's.
And we have pretty collectibles that I'm not allowed to touch or I'm in BIG trouble.
Gramp's montage hangs on the wall to the left of the new recliner♥
Gram loved Williamsburg and she decoupaged this purse a long time ago.  Mom will use it for gram's ashes.   Gram will be happy to know this.
This is wig stand.   I don't know why, but mom is thrilled to have it.  Nobody here wears a wig!
This chest of drawers was mom's when she was a whole lot younger.   Now it's in our guestroom.   It is loaded with needlework patterns and flosses and aida cloth and more memories.   You have enough to keep you busy for a LONG time, mom!
This is one of gram's embroidered pieces.    Isn't it gorgeous♥
 Mom and her two brothers~
Yes, that is mom when she was even younger.
Gramp's ashes arrived at our house yesterday.   Mom didn't find anything appropriate at gram's house for gramp's ashes.   She needs to put on her thinking cap and get creative.
Thank you so much for allowing us to reminisce about mom's Florida trip.   Our home is looking beautiful with so many of gram's treasures in it.   We feel their love♥

Love ya lots♥
Molly and Mackie

  2. That is a hard job, but someone has to do it. So glad your Mom had help to share the memories and the decisions. And what a great thing to share some of your Grandmother and Grand father's things with people who needed them.

  12. Oh my word Mackie and Molly we are speechless...what wonderful treasures and we are so glad the men can use the furnishings from Gram's. We think the decoupage pocketbook is absolutely perfect for her ashes. The wig stand is quite unusual and a lovely piece of furniture as is the chest of drawers.
Oh my the embroidered lady is gorgeous over the chest of drawers. Gram was very artistic!!
Lots of hugs madi and mom

  17. It is so nice to be able to help a flooding victim. ♥ I know when we had to go through all of my in-laws' belongings, we experienced a combination of tears and laughter. I'm glad that you were able to bring wonderful mementos home to live with you.
