For the month of July, Phenny and Nelly and the Canadian Cats want us to prepare a fruit loose and fancy free dish.
We decided on Strawberry Peach Shortcake with angel food cake as our "shortcake". Gram always used box mixes for her angel food cakes so that's what we did too.
While the cake was baking, mom cut up the strawberries~
And because she couldn't decide in the beginning if it was to be a strawberry shortcake or a peach shortcake, she bought both strawberries and peaches. More is always better, right?! We sugared them to make lots of juice.
The cake just out of the oven before we turned it upside down to cool~
Of course, I got to sample the finished product☺
It is fabbers, mom!
I'm ready for seconds!

oooh we agree that is fabbers! whats a summer without strawberry short cake? we will look if there are still strawberries and do this summer ritual too ;O)

ReplyDeleteMom hasn't had angel food cake in ages she says. It is a cake she always forgets about but the taste reminds her of being a little girl. I bet your dessert was super tasty!
