Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Sunny today for Nature Friday~~

Do you see all of those white flowers behind me?   They are growing EVERYWHERE!

Mom looked them up and they are called Garlic Mustard but she doesn't think they smell like garlic or like mustard.     Thankfully, they pull out very easily for a "weed".
We see this beautiful tree every year in bloom and mom decided to look this one up too.    According to the Plant ID website, it's a Dwarf Red-Leaf Plum.
We did manage to get a photo of the pretty pink Phlox with surrounding Periwinkle before the rain ruined it.
Once again, Mrs Robin has chosen to be a not-so-smart mom.   A Robin has built her nest for a third year in a row in the Rhodendendron right outside our picture window.   It's a deep nest and mom can't see how many eggs are in there but she's sitting on them all the time now.   We sure hope they make it this time but we are not too hopeful.
It's been so cloudy and dreary but the sun popped out in the afternoon and it sure feels good on my face!
Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Love ya lots♥
Molly

  2. Birds don't seem to be very smart, just like the ducks putting a nest by our front door. Crazy! Still barely a flower to be seen around here but spring is a couple weeks late with all the cold we have had. Now we are headed into days of rain, yuck! Happy Friday!

  3. Hi Molly!
We too have lots of garlic mustard in bloom. Gail says if you crush it between your fingers it does smell a teeny bit of garlic. But not mustard.
    Happ Nature Friday.
    Toodle-oo!
    Nobby.
PS Sending best wishes to the robin for a productive nesting season.

  5. Robins aren't the brightest are they? Robins in our garden built a nest in a pile of hedge clippings left for a week - about 2 feet above ground level with cats around.... My humum decided to try eating that garlic mustard. She said it doesn't taste like either garlic either - does taste a bit mustardy but there are better things to eat if you are into green stuff. paw smacks Mr T

  6. Molly if I live to be 187 I will never understand how weeds are often so very pretty.
    Thankfully no garlic aroma.
The Dwarf Red-Leaf Plum, Phlox and periwinkle are gorgeous.
thanks for the plant ID site. I've been seeing a most unusual one on my EMW
    Love you lots

  8. Those flowers are pretty even if some are just weeds (or are they wildflowers?). Our mom was watching a robin building her nest in one of our viburnum bushes. We can't wait to see if we get any babies from it.

  9. Charlee: "I sure wish some stupid bird would build a nest right outside our window. The house finches build nests on the outdoor speakers, but they are hard to see from the window."
Lulu: "Those speakers don't even work. I think the only reason they're there is for the birds to nest on."
Chaplin: "Well in that case Dada could at least move them to a more convenient location for us ..."

  13. What beautiful flowers...and you would think that silly robin would learn, and build her nest somewhere else!

You sure look pretty with the sun shining on your face!
