Missy and mom decided they wanted to walk on the Farmington Canal Trail for Mother's Day and it would be my first time walking any place other than my neighborhood streets. Saturday, mom decided that she didn't want me to wear my head collar so we tried on harnesses that are hanging in the closet just waiting for me. She finally decided on one that she thought might work knowing that we would see people and dogs and lots of bicycles and that I would be better behaved with activity that I'm not used to.
I got to ride in the front with the girls!
I wagged my tail at nice people and I saw several dogs and I got to touch noses with one of them! Most of what we saw were peeps on bicycles that kept shouting, "On your left"! There were pretty flowers and lots of birds and even a squirrel that taunted me!It was 11am and getting warm and there was nice sparkling water and mom thought that maybe I might want a drink~
I didn't want a drink but Missy was hoping that I would pull mom into the brook and her cell phone was ready and waiting☺
We had a great time and both mom and Missy decided that we really should do this more often plus we walked three miles!
It was the most perfect Mother's Day!We had a great time and both mom and Missy decided that we really should do this more often plus we walked three miles!

Looks like quite the pawsome Mother's Day weekend! What a fun outing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun adventure you had with Missy and your mom, Duke. We hope you get to go there often. The canal path near our house always has a ton of bike riders, but not all of them warn you when they are approaching and go way too fast.
ReplyDeleteOMDs Duke all the practice walks around your home (and of course having you big boy surgery) gave you all the skills you needed for a walk in the park. Missy is funny. Yes you all need to do that again

We both had the perfect Mother's Day. Excellent. You're so handsome, Duke.
ReplyDeleteI lined this post to Awww Mondays.
Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to you and a hug to mom. ♥
That was a nice treat for all of you and perfect that you did it on Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteGo Duke!!! What a nice boy you were, waling right next to your Mama...we RARELY do this BOL!

What a lovely day for a walk and the sun was shining and not too hot for you all. I am glad you did not pull your Mom into the water! We have seen quite a few of those types of pictures on the Instagram and although they are funny I suspect not so much for those being pulled!!! I am glad you go to spend it with Missy too. Hugs & Love Susie & Coco xx
ReplyDeleteThat was such a nice day for Mom, Sissy, and you. Too bad we couldn't join you. Mom is trying to find the right harness for Timber. He usually has to wear a Gentle Leader because he still pulls a little bit if he sees a rabbit or a squirrel. But now he is getting callouses on the sides of his mouth from it rubbing there. So she is on the hunt for a harness with the no-pull feature. But she really needs to be sure it is one he can't back out of. Still searching.

Hooray! I'm glad you all had a great time and that you got to explore new territory Dandy Duke!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a perfect day to me
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a perfect outing, Duke! I wish I could have joined you! #1 occasionally tries me without the halter but I still pull...

I LOVE the last picture.... and your day sounds great. Congrats on the self control around bikers. I do NOT enjoy hearing them yell on your left myself. One beautiful park in Syracuse NY has two parallel paths, one for wheels one for walkers.... nice!

We did that walk (partly) last Summer! Pretty place to stroll, and with the paved path, mostly tick free!
ReplyDeleteLulu: "That looks like a great trail for a Mother's Day walk, Duke! We like walking around our neighborhood but we like it even better when we can go somewhere like that with new things to sniff!"
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Ayyy, who kept saying 'On your left'? Was it the Falcon? Or Captain America? We never see any Avengers around here ..."
That's the wonderfullest Mother's Day for sure! Mom looks beautiful and happy with you on her lap. You are right about doing this often, we get to see the place change too..
ReplyDeleteGreenery is so beautiful now,🌿
