Flower Friday

Arty and Jakey - mom and I are so very sorry about sweet Bilbo.   He was one special and very cute pup.   Our hearts go out to both of you and also to your mom and dad.
We are dedicating our Flower Friday to angel Bilbo and angel Dory♥

Look what mom found in our yard!  Her eyes didn't find them - her nose did!  Honeysuckle is soooooo fragrant!
We've had superhot weather for a couple of days but thankfully, the temps and humidity have dropped and walkies were much more fun~
This lamium in bloom is right outside mom's doctor's office.
Love the color of these bellflowers!
This pot of geraniums and pansies are hanging in a tree~
The smoke trees are in bloom~
 Such colorful cheerful annual flowers~
Mom never had good luck growing roses.  Maybe it was because she didn't spray them!

This is the coolest windmill.   It's connected electrically and it turns all the time.
Dad called mom yesterday and told her that Jett is barking like a seal so dad got antibiotics for him.  So now he has kennel cough.   I am still, and hope to remain, kennel cough free.   The vet told mom that because Mackie has been on Doxy, he shouldn't be contagious.  He's visiting us again this weekend.

Manuka Honey

Mom has been searching the intermuts a lot lately to see if she can't find something natural that will help Mackie heal faster from this dreaded kennel cough.   Mackie doesn't have that doG-awful hacking cough that is associated with this illness.   It's more of a reverse-sneeze gagging sound that comes out of him.   He's still sneezing and it sends disgusting germs everywhere and the poor boy's mouth and nose are always wet.

She discovered this honey that's native to New Zealand and parts of Australia and it's called manuka honey.
********************
"How can Manuka honey help your dog?
Many dog owners have long known about Manuka honey, applying it to wounds for quicker healing times. Manuka can also be applied to cuts or burns, or to treat any kind of wound or infection.
Manuka can also be used internally for conditions such as kennel cough, by alleviating many of your dog’s symptoms. Depending on your dog’s size, a dose of 1/2 to 1 teaspoon three or four times a day may do the trick. Choose a UMF10+ or more or an MGO™100 (Bronze) or higher.

Manuka can also be used to treat allergies, digestive issues and stomach ulcers. A good maintenance dose for your pooch should be anywhere from 1/2 to 1 teaspoon a day. Again, dosage depends on the size of your dog.
Cautions:
Manuka, as with all honey, contains a high sugar content, so if your dog is diabetic or overweight, it’s best to consult your veterinarian before giving Manuka to your dog. Manuka is not recommended for dogs under a year of age. Manuka may contain bacteria that your puppy isn’t ready to fight off. Adult dogs have no problems with it."
*************************

We have a natural food store that's only a mile away from us so mom took a ride down and came back with a jar of it.   It's not cheap but hey, if it works than it's worth it, right?!
It's not runny and messy.  It's soft but firm.
And Mackie loves it!  Hold still, Mackie - you're blurring the picture!
So paws and fingers are crossed that it helps Mackie to heal.
Oh and btw, so far, so good for me.   I'm not showing any kennel cough signs and neither is Jett, according to dad.   We are hoping and praying that it stays this way and the sickness doesn't spread any further!

Only a Matter of Time

Mom took Mackie to the vet yesterday.  He was sneezing and had runny eyes and a wet nose and he felt warmer to the touch than usual.   She didn't shove the thermometer up his hiney, but the vet did.   He was doing that reverse sneeze-type noise and he has respiratory issues.  Mom listened to his breathing Thursday night and didn't like what she was hearing.     He was diagnosed with kennel cough, which dad says he definitely got at the animal hospital when he was neutered.   Yes, he got the up-the-nose vaccine but it obviously didn't work for this strain of kennel cough.   So Mackie is taking Doxy and Benedryl and taking it easy.
Poor Mackie sounds like a little boy with a very bad cold.
Mom says it's probably only a matter of time before I start coming down with the same symptoms.   I sure hope not.

Flower Friday

We are joining mini-Dory this week for Flower Friday☺
We found clematis growing on mailbox posts~

 And more pretty iris~
 And a loaded rhododendron bush!
The peonies are coming into bloom~

This bush was covered with rose-looking blossoms but they don't have any scent.  Such a shame.
Thanks for coming along with me and mom on our Friday walk!

Visiting Again

Mackie is staying with us again!   Jett had his neuter surgicals yesterday and he's resting up at home so Mackie gets to hang out with me to make it easier on dad.
We can play till we drop!  Mackie is back to 100% except for his shaved poodle leg!
 Ooops - I think you rear-ended me, Mackie☺
I'm glad you're visiting with us again, Mackie!

Pork Chomps

Mom placed an order with Chewy not long ago.    She ordered 6 containers of NaturVet Aller911 (she didn't want to run out) and a box of 600 poop bags.
Not long ago, Miss Sue, posted about these wonderful NaturVet allergy treats and how she had been searching forever to help her pups with allergies and she discovered that this product was a winner.
My tummy has been "blemished" lately and mom decided to give them a try.
No, mom, I refuse to have my less-than-perfect tummy displayed!   What we can tell you is that they are working wonders for me and my tummy and mom is just thrilled with them so we will continue to buy them.
So the Chewy box arrived and we got the allergy treats but no poop bags.   Chewy sent these Premium Pork Chomps instead.    Oh course, I was beyond thrilled, because who really and truly is thrilled about poop bags!  Mom wasn't exactly as thrilled as I was though.  First of all, she needed the poop bags and second of all - I'm not allowed to have rawhide because I eat it too fast and she doesn't want any scary choking issues.

But then mom took a second look and read the package further and realized that these chews are rawhide-free and she then she read the rave reviews at Chewy's website and guess what?  She broke down and gave me one!
But guess what else?    I don't really like them.
Mom says that she will give them to dad to give to Mackie and Jett.   Maybe one of them will like them better than I do.
Mom wrote to Miss Natalie about the poop bag/pork chomps mix-up and she will be sending the poop bags right out to us!  Is Chewy the bestest company in the whole wide world or what♥

Flower Friday

We are joining Arty this week for Flower Friday.
The most exciting thing happened on our walk!   We saw a skunk and he was actually running to try to catch us.   No, we don't have a picture because mom was running to get away from him!  No fun, mom - I really wanted to meet him!
This Kousa Dogwood tree just happens to be in my back yard!
 The chives are blooming~
We had to look this one up.   It's a Weigela and such a pretty color but there is no pretty fragrance.
You know she couldn't pass by happy smiling pansy faces and not take their picture☺
 Pinks!
Time to head upstairs for my drink of water!
Thank you for coming along on my walk with me!   Happy Friday, everybuddy☺

Love ya lots♥
