One Special Painting

Dad surprised mom with an early Christmas gift. We had to rush right over to see what she got!

It's an oil painting and it has a lot of meaning to both mom and dad.

Mitch was born on November 24th so that means that on Christmas Eve he was one month old and most probably spent Christmas in a cage at some puppy mill. We HOPE he was with his mom and sisters and brothers but we don't know any of these facts - we can only suppose. Obviously mom and dad can't change history but in their hearts they can! We didn't get Mitch until he was 4 months old so there's an empty gap.

So the painting of the Airedale puppy that's safe and warm and happy and loved means a whole lot to them! They want the puppy in this painting to be Mitch when he was much younger.

Mom and dad explained to Mitch that even if he didn't have the greatest start to his young life, they were going to make it up to him from now on!

I think Mitch was quite touched!

So we have two more things to celebrate this Christmas, one, that mom has a beautiful new painting for our family room walls - thank you so much dad!

And two, that Mitch has a safe, warm and loving home forever and ever! We sure wish that this could be true for all pups that don't have their forever homes! They should all be as lucky as my brother, Mitch is!

So until next time.....................

Love ya lots,

Maggie

  1. That's a truely beautiful painting. I truely believe that those who have had a hard start in life really appreciate kind humans and love so much, most of my pack are from unknown backgrounds.

  6. That is a fantastic painting!! We're so glad that Mitch is safe & warm with his family. Mom gets all leaky-eyed when she thinks about Penny & Sherman before they came to Jackman Ave because they both were strays in the cold for a pretty long time :o(.

Tis the season to count all of our blessings.

  8. Changing history, that's how our folks feel too. Overwriting the first three and a half months of my life and the first eight or nine months of JH's life with love and laughter -- and security. Even when we go to camp for a week, we're with people we've known for years, who take good care of us, and we come home to find our beds, and our bowls, and our toys right where we left them.

The painting is beautiful and touching, and the thought behind it beyond words!!

Happiness to hairy Mitchy and polite sniffs to Madame Maggie, and all sorts of paws up to your folks.

  18. What a pawsome painting! We should all be thankful for our loving, forever homes. So many doggies don't have the privilege and that is so sad! This is Ozzie's 3rd home. We told him the day he got here he was here to stay, no matter what! I've been here since I was just a pup but he was almost a year old. We don't think things were very good for him in the beginning but he leads the life of Riley now!
