We both got to lick the batter off the spoon before they went into the oven and unfortunately mom didn't take a picture of them when they came out of the oven! They were very, very yummy and there wasn't one left when mom and dad left the pawty Saturday night!
Sunday morning mom made blueberry buckle for Scot's pawty! Scot is leaving for college any day now! We both got a taste of this batter too!
Somebody has to do the job so we sort of appointed ourselves official taste testers! You can't see it but mom is holding 2 spoons in her hand. One is the batter and the other one is the batter topping! We both sampled each spoon to make sure it's fit for Scot's guests!
This is the blueberry buckle just out of the oven!
We're hoping that when mom cuts into it we can each have a taste!
We got our wish! Can you see the buckle in Mitch's mouth?
Here's the recipe if anyone would like it~
Blueberry Buckle
Cream by hand 1/4 cup shortening, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1 1/2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Mix in 1 1/2 cups of fresh blueberries!
Spread into a greased 13" X 9" pan and sprinkle with crumb mixture.
Crumb mixture: 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 cup shortening.
Bake 350 degrees for about 30 minutes our until the edges turn brown. Cool and eat! yum
So until next time.............
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
That looks so yummy. It's tough to be a taste tester isn't it?!?
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm so going to ask Mom to bake one too so I can taste test it! hehe! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Maggie and Mitch! You guys look like you enjoyed the foodies so much I'm feeling hungry now...*grins*

What an awesome job. I wonder if mum will let me have the job too! Hey Mitch, isn't the lemon a wee bit sour?
ReplyDeleteI can not believe Mitch eats Lemons! That is absolutely fantastic! Does he pucker? lol
ReplyDeleteThe recipe sounds divine.. I may just have to pull out my apron and give it a whirl! Thanks for passing it along.
Thank you for the recipe, we will get our hooman to try it very soon. Won't be sucking the lemons though.

Maggie and Mitch you are very lucky dogs! Oooohhh yummy! Getting to be the official taste tester of your mama's baked yummies! My mama has gotten lazy (shhhhhh...don't tell her I said that cuz I love her but...) she doesn't bake too often like she used to. And Blueberry Buckle! YUMMY!!! Mama said her mama used to make that every summer for special treats.
ReplyDeleteHey...maybe you post and photos will score me a taste of some yummy treats!
If I haven't told ya lately, I love your blog and you both are pawsome pups!
Woofs and slobbers from your Newfie pal,
Gabe (and in spirit, Bella too!)
Gee M&M...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of tastin' 'n lickin' goes on around there... we always get ta lick the dinner plates clean if there's not anythin' that would hurt us there...'n that's an important job too. Why, think of all the time it saves Gram since she rinses off every plate anyway before puttin' it in the dishwasher.....no wonder Pap can never tell if they're clean or dirty in there....yer Mom is pretty good ta ya both.....
Dewey Dewster here.....
Those treats look very yummy. How lucky of you to be a taster. Our girl is afraid of her oven, so she never bakes anything for us to taste.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Tasty! Mom just bought some gluten free baking mix so maybe if we ask real nice she'll mix up a batch for us and our friends! It sure looks delish!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got to party and feast. That's what the weekends are for, right?
Your Blueberry buckle sounds pawsitivly scrumptious. I think my mom is going to have to make some!
ReplyDeletebernard

Those are great "lemon eyes" hahahahaha ... your expression says SOUR all over it! The buckle looks delicious. Booker got a pancake this morning, with syrup and butter. That was a special "hurricane" treat. We should have had blueberries to put in the batter!
ReplyDeleteOMD that looks so yummy...I just LOVE bleuberries...they are just my favorite. That pix of Mitch licking the lemon is funny...his eyes look buggier than mine - LOL.
ReplyDeleteLots of Licks, Ruby
Maggsie!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it whenever you open your mouth all wide like you're going to swallow your mama's hand. Our girl used to bake, but not so much any more. Maybe Stella & I could come live with you guys for awhile.
I wonder why Mitch likes the lemons and you don't? You're related, so it's a little mysterious.
Goober love & smooches,

Looks liek you were very busy. I help my Mom with the baking, too. It'd be really embarassing if she went to share her goodies and they didn't taste good.

I think my Mom is gonna try out those Oat Lemon Bars!
ReplyDeleteHm, I left another comment earlier, but it didn't show up. I had said that your Mom should create a new recipe blog!
ReplyDeleteYummy! Stella is quite jealous right now.
ReplyDeleteWe are seriously jealous over here. I can't believe you get to try all this stuff and all we get are crappy broccoli stems when Mom makes salads.
ReplyDeleteHey can you ask your mom if you can use frozen blueberries in that if you defrost them first? We have all that stuff. Mom might even make that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if I can get Mom's attention maybe she'll make us some buckle too. I can dream can't I??? We all love blueberries maybe I can talk her in to it. Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteRudy
