You can see Wee Ted right up front and everyone else is so much bigger than he is! Ever since mom finished the stencil in the guestroom she's been going nuts with the woodwork! She said that all of the doors in our house were painted when we moved here in 1985 and slowly but surely we're burning the paint off of them and sanding them back to their original pine. The door to the left is pine and the closet door to the right is half pine and half poplar! We have a lot of poplar in our house. The boards are nice and wide and have a kind of greenish-brownish tint to them.
This door goes up to our attic! It's a full third floor up there! It's cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. The door has poplar panels and pine that frames the panels. We think it's a very pretty contrast!
Here's mom's latest project - it's the door in our downstairs hallway. It's the one that we hang all of our DWB Christmas cards on each year and finally at long last it's going to be sanded and finished to a pretty pine! Mom still has lots of work to do on this one but it's a start and that's the important part! She still has hours of scraping and sanding all around the edges of the panels. It's a lot of work but very rewarding work! It's a labor of love - that's for sure!
We were at Mona and her mommy's blog yesterday and she posted a picture of a magnificent tree and she doesn't know what kind it is! Can anyone help her out and let her know? Thank you in advance!
See you all next Wednesday!Love, Autumn

Awww, Wee Bear is cute, nice of you to include him Autumn....do you sometimes let him ride Aire-back....or in your little Aire purse?
ReplyDeleteNo idea what that tree is but you're right, it's very pretty!
Slobbers xx
We like to see the natural beauty of different kinds of woods here too. Its prettier than a painting sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Your mom is doing a super great job on those doors, Autumn! We love the natural look of wood too. One of the main reasons that our pawrents bought the house we live in, is that all the cabinets are natural wood. All the other houses, they looked at, had painted cabinets! We're going over to see Mona and the Mommy, now. We think that tree may be a Bradford Pear. We have them EVERYWHERE, around here and the flowers sure look the same!
ReplyDeleteAire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches
Hi M & M,
ReplyDeleteMy goodness but your Mom is so talented. Your house is gonna be awesome. Mommy greww up in a house that had wooden floors. Thanks to Autumn for puting out the word on the tree. Poppy, Penny & Patches are right. It is a Bradford Pear...the people where Staci works knew what it was and several others have guessed correctly. I gotta find one fr the Mommy to plant.
{{{huggies}}}.....Mona

Your mommy must be related to our mommy. They both play with wood a lot! We have been told that it is very hard work sanding doors so your mum did a fab job of it. Now go give her slobbery kisses from us! XOXO-BabyRocketDog & Hootie
ReplyDeleteps-When we're in farr N.Idaho our home is made of logs so the folks are always sanding & chinking!

ReplyDeletehi Autumn, your mom is really busy with all of her projects. those doors look really pretty. we wish we had treasures like that in our house, but no - it's just plain.
ReplyDeletethat's a pretty tree, but we don't know its name.

We really like the pine doors Autumn. How old is your house? Our house is 100 years old this year. I guess by Australian standards that's getting up there.

The pet shop here gave jie jie 2 tiny teddy bear handphone ornament on Valentine day. You sure have lots of teddy bear. Jie jie's teddy bear and soft toy collection are all kept in the cupboard to avoid collecting too much dust.
ReplyDeleteJie jie is awing at what a good job your mom has done for the doors. This is something we can never try here. Will you let her go stay with you for a while and try building something.

Your Mummy is going to be very busy but those doors will look fantastic when all the hard work has been completed.
ReplyDeleteOur hooman loves all your teddybears.

Yup, down in the south here we call those trees "pear berries" - but Bradford Pear is the official name. I have three beautiful ones outside my office window and I was going to post before and after pictures of them this weekend - so tell your mom to check it out. Sunday, hopefully. It is amazing to see what they look like before they bloom like that.
ReplyDeleteTank woo fur sharing your furry khritters!
ReplyDeleteAND your mom's handiwork!
We say Bradford Pear too!

That's a lot of work your mom is doing to get the paint off the doors. They look very pretty. Our doors are painted and our girl has decided that she doesn't care how pretty they might be - she doesn't want to work that hard to find out.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful woodwork you have.. Mom would like an old house like that someday. She keeps looking but hasn't found one yet..
ReplyDeleteBig Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
That is a lot of good work with those doors. thanks for sharing today. =)
ReplyDeleteSorry I cannot help with the tree, but it sure is pretty. The door looks like a tough project, Mom would not be patient enough for it. You guys have so many stuffies, we can't have any :(
ReplyDeleteOoh...cute cute bears all lined up! *grins* Your Mom sure is busy with all her projects for the house...the doors all look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMom's very bad with tree names...plus,I don't think we've seen that particular tree before here,so I guess we're not much help! >.<"
Hope you have a great week!
