Hi everyone. It's me, Francesca!
Remember the trunk that dad just brought back from Maine for mom?
Mom has been working on it all week long and it's now sitting in our family room all finished!
All of that sanding and oiling has made the wood come alive! Dad took the fancy Victorian hinges up to his buddy Dan's shop and the boys sandblasted them for mom and now they look like pewter.
Mom even cleaned and sanded and oiled the tills inside the chest. What are we going to store inside here, mom?
I found the perfect Aire-dish for the top! Mom made the tiger maple dish in 2003!Mom loves her new trunk! Thanks again for the wonderful gift, dad!
Before we leave, we want to post a picture of our Lenten Rose for Clive. We told him that ours was more of a pinkish. His is more purple. So this is for you, Clive.
See you all next Wednesday.
Friends forever,
Francesca
OMD! Your new trunk is gorgeous! Your mom did a GREAT job! Our mom looooves to refinish old wooden stuffs, but she hasn't done any lately. Maybe someday, she'll do it again.

Your mom is very talented and patient. It was worth the effort. Now I hope that nice chest doesn't wind up with any toofer prints on it.

Wow! Someone is a quick worker. In our house that trunk would sit on a shelf for a year or two while we thought about fixing it up.

All that hard work and effort polishing and oiling was well worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how your mom finds the time to take care of the two of you and be so crafty at the same time. She must be wonderwoman! The trunk looks fantastic! Good job!
That trunk is beautiful - and I've never thought that about a trunk before! Nice job there aire-momma!! Is that Lenten Rose growing outside? Never seen one of those before!

The trunk looks beautiful. Can we borrow your mom for a week. We 'd love to have some pretty wooden accessories in our house.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that trunk is Most Stunning. Your mom is awfully talented (and speedy!). And she MADE that Aire-dish?? Wowza! You all must be very most proud of her accomplishments.

The trunk is gorgeous. We have about a gazillion feet of "original" woodwork in our house. Muzzer is starting on the baseboards, but if your Mom is not afraid of high places, she can come help.
ReplyDeletegussie
Your trunk is beautiful! What a treasure for your home. It's like a rebirth for the trunk (with a history you can only imagine) and with new memories to develop (and perhaps store inside.) The greatest of which is the thought that came with the purchase and touch while refinishing it. We just love it. (Even now, Moma thinks of her rehomed and refinished furniture, and wonders about its long rich history.)
ReplyDeleteWe love your moma's work.
Jake and Fergi and Family
My dog, this is beautiful! We love this style and your mommy did a fabulous job refinishing it. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteTwinkie
What a great job! That was a lot of hard work in an amazingly short time.
ReplyDeleteThe trunk looks beautiful - we are happy it has found a home where it will be treasured rather than left to rot.
Our mum is hoping for the same thing as she gets old and worn!!!
Have a great Easter - we will be away for a couple of weeks but look forward to catching up with you when we get back.
love
Martha & Bailey xx

The trunk looks beautiful!!! I had to take Jeter to the v - e - t yesterday (I will post on that soon) and there were 2 Airedales there too! I immediately thought of Maggie and Mitch! They are larger dogs than I originally thought. I just had to pet them for you!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour Mom did a superb job on the trunk! It is gorgerous! What a wonderful present from your Dad!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the photo of your Lenten Rose! It is lovely! We have a cream one in the front garden also, Murray's Mom loves them as they are the first plants here to bloom every spring.
