Sardines

We were reading Miss Sue's post a couple of days ago and she told us that sardines were very good for us doggies so we begged mom to please get us some. 

 We have never had sardines before so this is our first time taste-testing them~
 The aroma is incredible!
 We would have eaten the whole container but mom was being stingy!  We think she must have wanted some for herself!
You are brilliant, Miss Sue! Thank you so very much for suggesting this new treat for us.  Mom says she will be buying them again and again for us!

    Well now we are going to have to go over and thank Miss Sue also!! We are sending Mama out TODAY to try some of those...we can tell how much you like them!!

    We make sure Penny has sardines at least once a week. The calcium is good for her and she seems to like them. I read this at another site:

    Sardines are not only a rich source of bone-building vitamin D, a nutrient not so readily available in the diet and one that is most often associated with fortified dairy products. Vitamin D plays an essential role in bone health since it helps to increase the absorption of calcium. Sardines are also a very good source of phosphorus, a mineral that is important to strengthening the bone matrix. Additionally, as high levels of homocysteine are related to osteoporosis, sardines' vitamin B12 rounds out their repertoire of nutrients that support bone health.

    Fish oil is excellent for our skin and coats....hats why mom gets us taste of the wild ..pacific fish...it helps with my dry skin.

    I get sardines in olive oil from time to time for my coat and I love them. Peeps makes it a regular feature of my diet. Have a terrific Tuesday.

    We've not heard about sardines, but it sure makes sense-we shall give them a try!
    (Parental Unit likes them with pasta, but she must be a bit stingy...)

    We will have to go and re-read the "Sunshade and Sardines" post! I wonder if they would fit with my new low fat diet? Bah...Do Anchovies count, cause I love Anchovies :)

    WE just had Sour Deens last week... Our mom likes to MASH them up in the JUICY stuffs they come in... and then puts them on our wet kibble dinner like a DELICIOUS TOPPING.. Sour Deens are GRRRRREAT TASTING and very much super good fur our skin and furs in the DRY WINTER...
    We are GLAD that your mom is going to get you some MORE of them. OUR mom also gives us Canned SAMMIN... Again she MASHES up EVERYTHINGY in the can... even the Juicy.. and a can of that lasts us for 4 Days... as a Topping.

    Hi there, While I've never given Hunter sardines, he loves tuna and salmon-so I will also head over and read all about the benefits for dogs. I was concerned because of the sodium amount so will be interested to read what is said. Glad you like them!!!!

    We're so glad you got to try sardines. We just love them. Mom says we can only have them at dinner because the smell would make her sick first thing in the morning. When Samba was sick she liked them for breakfast and Mom turned green.

    Mom said we had them once a long time ago - must have been aeons because we don't remember. She has another tin in the pantry, but something about the delicious aroma is preventing her from opening it for us - let us at 'em!!!

    We absolutely LOVE sardines. Our VET, would you believe, said we scotties should have them to keep from having dry skin...ya gotta love a Vet like that.

    It's the only time we just sit and keep licking out our bowls so we don't miss ANY.

    Crikey ... your blog is amazing. I'm VERY new to this blogging thing but I love it. I hope I can make my blog as good as yours one day. I have sardines twice a week. Mum gives me a whole can all to myself. I love 'em!! Mum doesn't like the way I smell afterwards though. Too bad, says I. Oh I come from downunder in Australia.

    My grandma Laura loved sardines, and me and mika love it too. Sardines is simply delicious!

    Talking about sardines, Mom went to a fish market to get some fresh sardines the other day; she paid the guy and told him that she would be back to get her fish as she needed to get some other stuff from other stores. Guess what? She completely forgot about it after the extra shopping and came home with NO sardines. Sigh! I was so disappointed at her :(

    MOM you should also be buying them for her and dad too b/c they are so good good for them too!!! WE have sardines almost once
