The Airedale Christmas Tree

 Our Airedale Christmas tree has been up for a couple of weeks now.  This is the first year that mom has put it in front of our picture window. 

She made most all of the ornies from wood cut-offs that started as Airedale spoons.    She didn't make the intarsia one that looks like he's stealing the tennis ball.  

 The wood starts off at one inch thick and once you carve the bowl of the spoon, you slice the handle so that it's not so thick.  This spoon is made from mahogany.

It was carved in 2005.   Mom doesn't have access to Mackie's dad's workshop anymore so these ornies are very special to us.

 

She made the felt ornies too.    The "pearl" garland is Job's Tears.  The pearls grow on a plant that she grew in her garden a few years ago.  

She didn't make the brushy ornie but she did add his red collar.  

One of the bestest ornies on the tree, don't you think☺

She bought the snowglobe this year.  It's a little boy who wants to be a mechanic when he grows up.  He's working on his pedal car with his faithful best friend by his side.
