Our newest squirrel proof hanging baffle is the Arundale and it's working! So far, no piggy squirrels have been able to figure out how to get to the feeder and steal the birdie's seed☺
Where is the rest of it?
So many of my friends have beautiful snow to play in!Yesterday was rainy and dreary and raw and mom was in the mood for Rice Pudding~
She says that making this recipe reminds her of her younger days when you had to stir and stir and stir until you thought your arm would fall off ☺
The recipe:
1 1/2 c. water |
3/4 c. uncooked medium white rice |
2 c. milk, divided |
1/2 c. sugar |
1/4 tsp. salt |
1 egg, beaten |
1 Tbsp. butter |
1 tsp. vanilla extract |
1. In a medium saucepan over high heat, bring water to a boil. Stir in rice, reduce heat to low, and simmer, covered, 15 to 20 minutes, or until water is absorbed.
2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine 1-1/2 cups milk, the sugar, salt, and the cooked rice; mix well. Cook 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk and egg; cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
3. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Place in serving bowl and refrigerate until chilled.
Of course, the official taste tester is on duty! Mom served it to me with a heart cookie after she removed the raisins that she decided to add. When she eats it, she'll will sprinkle a wee bit of cinnamon on top.
Yummers! The recipe is a keeper mom!We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~~
We love the tall grasses this time of year.
I AM looking, mom!Today would have been gram's ninety-first birthday.
This is Patsy. Mom remembers her from when she was just a little girl. She always wanted to hold her and stroke her soft hair.
This is the drawing of Patsy and gram. It was drawn by great gram, who was a most talented lady with paint brushes and needle and thread just like her daughter was. Gram got Patsy when she was just a little girl and now we have inherited Patsy and the beautiful drawing and they both bring such fond and loving memories ♥We are joining Sunny today for Nature Friday~~
A beautiful sunrise more than a few days ago~
Mom got a squirrel baffle for the heart bird feeder and it's working! She got a finch feeder and nyger seed too. It's not a feeder that's visited too often yet.We are joining Rosy today for Nature Friday~~
Look at the hoof print we found in our yard. It's been a wet week and the ground is soft.
A few days ago, we were outside and I was doing my business. Mom was laughing at the squirrels trying to figure out how to get into the feeder. She's not laughing anymore. They figured it out!One of mom's Christmas gifts from my sissy this year was a beautiful heart-shaped bird feeder. This past Friday, she took a ride to Tractor Supply and bought forty pounds of classic bird seed, came home, filled the feeder and hung it in the pink Dogwood tree.
Since Friday, she's worn a path in the carpet peeking out the window to see if any guests have arrived. Nope - and not even a stoopid squirrel!
Yesterday afternoon, she was checking out the window for the 87,000 time, and she spotted a Chickadee just leaving. She got all excited and told him to please go get all of his friends and come back! Well, he didn't.
