I invented a new game!
I go to the wall end of the outside shower curtain and run behind it along the bathtub for fun. It always makes mom laugh☺We are in another hot hot hot heatwave for the next three days so walking early is a MUST! Our walks include a lot of shade and that means mosquitos and irritating bugs. Mom can't stand them flying around her face and she notices that they never bother me, which is a good thing. She has been trying essential oils to see which one may or may not work. We can tell you that Rose Geranium oil and Lavender oil did not work. This morning, she finally found a winner! Peppermint oil!!She drops the oil along the brim edge of her baseball cap - top and bottom. She said it was so potent that it was burning her eyes. She was watching the buzzing annoying bugs trying to come in for a landing but they were so turned off by the peppermint oil that they flew away! YAY!
From now on, my walks will be more peaceful as mom will be a lot happier and not constantly batting at her face! We wanted to pass this on in case anyone else is bothered by these irritating creatures!
Love ya lots♥
Duke
We always walk really early because it fits our schedule and it is so peaceful. They say the bugs are bad this year but they don't seem to both our mom or us, luckily. Glad you found something that works for your bug problems.
ReplyDeletethanks for that good tip with the oil! our mama used gunoil but she stinks like an assassin now BOL
ReplyDeleteHi Duke. We're sorry that your Mom is being beset by bugs. We are told that lemon eucalyptus oil also works well against mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteI wish you could transport over and join me on my walks. It' very pleasant here.
Woofs,
Ollie
You are clever to hide and run out from behind the curtain. Good indoor trick when it is too tricky to be out. So now yer mom is having Christmas in July just 'cause da bugs are bad and she has Peppermint!
ReplyDeleteNot the tasty kind so da bugs stay away.
Ha! Nice workout Duke!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you really surprise her and hop in the tub - you know I do that for storms -
It is horrible out there - we keep watching out temps on the horizon - and hope we aren't being fibbed to!
Glad your mom found a bug winner!

ReplyDeleteMaking up one's own house games is great fun, Duke... and I'm glad mum has something to keep the pests at bay! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
It's always nice to find something to make Moms laugh, and that shower curtain looks like lots of fun too!
ReplyDeletePeppermint Oil rocks! Our Mom washes our patio furniture with a peppermint oil/water mixture every Spring and Fall to keep bugs(especially spiders) away. We are glad your Mom found that it works for her too!

Way to go Dandy Duke, that looks like a fun game. Hey, I'll be the peppermint smells so much better.
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Ayyy, that sounds like a fun game! Anything that involves running has to be a good time!"
ReplyDeleteLulu: "We're glad your mom found a way to keep the bugs away, that will help your walks be more pleasant for everyone before the nasty heat rolls in!"
BOL BOL Duke yay for you keeping mom entertained and I bet the shower curtain is kinda cool feeling too.
ReplyDeletePoor sweet Mom I feel for her skeeters think I am their personal walking buffet.
Hugs and may we all be soon out of the horrid heat dome.
Cecilia
This is so very true. You also can run ants away with peppermint. No one wants ants in the kitchen. You made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI linked this post to Happy Tuesday.
Have a woof woof day, Duke. ♥
Love essential oils and you mentioned two of our favorites. Mum makes up formulas for just about everything with essential oils. P.S. Peppermint is also fabulous for getting rid of a headache (and very cooling in the heat). A drop at the temples and one on the back of the neck and poof, they're gone in no time. Stay as cool as you can. It's hot here too but at least we don't have the humidity to go with it. Only 55 days until autumn officially arrives. We can't wait!
