Not long ago, mom got me a 2Post2Pull headcollar like Ollie wears. She says that I still pull way too hard and she doesn't like that it rides so close to my eyes.
I hate head collars!!! I would much prefer to wear a harness but mom says that I pull even harder on the harness. She also doesn't like that I'm constantly sniffing the ground searching for freebee snackies. You remember that I got myself in trouble eating wild animal poo and getting very sick to the point that I stopped eating and she swore to herself that this will never happen again. On Tuesday, a new headcollar arrived from the UK. This one is called the Dogmatic. We tried it out in the backyard to make sure it fit okay.
Wednesday morning, mom was getting her oil changed in her car so we didn't get to walk until she got back. Mom says that I wasn't pulling as hard as I do on the other headcollars but this is only my first time wearing it.
I'm posing next to a beautiful butterfly bush and mom is taking in the wonderful scent and she's happy. This is what I think of my new Dogmatic headcollar! So now I have one more headcollar to add to my collection of training devices that hopefully, will make me stop pulling so hard and will make mom happier and enjoy our walk more than she does now. Here's hoping!
Love ya lots♥

ReplyDeleteOh Duke... you jus' gotta stay with mum a bit more - you'll still get to all the sniffies, but without causing her some aches. When my angel Jade used to pull like that, I simply stopped and refused to move untill she came by my heel... no words, just actions. It took a few weeks of some very slow, mainly stopped, walks before she got that 'staying by' meant we'd actually go forward! There may have been some training tidbits involved... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We all wear the Freedom No Pull Harness on walks and mom likes it. Collars she feels hurt our necks or we could slip out. Nelson is a machine and so very strong but if Mom attaches the second leash to the front of the collar, it pretty much zaps his energy and she can stop his pulling easily.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Duke's opinion - we think that calls for some raspberries or BLUEberries!
ReplyDeleteWe hope this one will help cover your mom's list of good qualities!

Java Bean: "Ayyy, poor Duke! Your style is being cramped!"
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Well, but it's no good to eat stinky gross stuff you find on the ground and then get sick, Duke. Rolling in it, on the other hand ..."
Duke you my handsome boy look dapper in any accessory. I'm very thankful that you will not be able to
ReplyDeletewalk and nibble at mysterious things on the ground

Poor fella. Gus pulls too hard, too. He knows better, but gets excited and tries to drag his food lady behind him. I hope this head collar eventually makes you happy. The color is nice against your beautiful brown color.
ReplyDeleteI understand how it's hard to keep your excitement down when you're on a walk, Duke. Paws crossed that you find this new head collar comfortable and your mom likes the way it works.
ReplyDeleteI hope that new one works for you Dandy Duke, you don't need to be pulling on Mom!
