Mom saw this recipe on FB and seeing as she loves Coleslaw and she's only ever had it with mayo, sugar, salt and pepper, she just had to make it!
Swedish Pizza Salad
Ingredients are half a medium sized head of white cabbage, 1 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1/4 cup white wine vinegar, 2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
Mom has never had white wine vinegar so she used distilled white instead. She didn't use as much sugar as the recipe calls for and we used Mrs Dash's herb seasoning instead of oregano and basil.
Mom got herself a fancy veggie slicer. In case anyone wants to know she got it on Amazon -
Geedel Rotary Cheese Grater Cheese Shredder - Upgraded 5-in-1 Cheese Grater with Handle and Strong Suction Base, Multi-purpose Vegetable Slicer Ice Shaver Nuts Grinder for Cheese, Vegetables, Ice.
She loves her new toy and it makes grating carrots and cabbage so much easier. She hasn't used it for anything else yet.
The finished Coleslaw/Swedish Pizza Salad~TasteTest time!We both loved it and mom says that it is so different than the coleslaw recipe with mayo!Happy Tuesday!
Love ya lots♥

Mom has a machine that grates things like carrots and she loves that too. It looks perfect for making your coleslaw. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteyes, I'd be cutting way back on that sugar level, too... but yes! That's a recipe will be trying...although I might be tempted to try it with cos lettuce instead of cabbage (as that can irritate my IBS)... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
