She started with the chewy peanut bars first.
1/4 cup margarine or butter, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 - 14oz can sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 cups quick-cooking oats, 1/2 cup coarsley chopped peanuts and 1/2 cup raisins.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In large saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, condensed milk, vanilla and salt and mix well. Stir in oats, peanuts and raisins. Spread evenly into greased 13" X 9" pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool thoroughly and cut into bars.
Mitch and I need to whine about the addition of the raisins, mom! They are NOT on our food acceptable list, ya know! You're being mean by teasing us!
2 cups sugar, 2 1/2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 1/2 cup peanut butter and 2 cups quick-cooking oats.
Combine sugar and cocoa in a large saucepan; add milk, stirring until smooth. Add butter. Place over high heat and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes
Remove from heat after 2 minutes is up. Add peanut butter and stir until melted. Add oats, mixing well. Let mixture cool until it firms a wee bit - like 10 minutes. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper; cool completely.
We have another gripe here, mom! um chocolate is not allowed either! I'm not even going to bother getting out of my resting position because now you're just being down-right cruel!
No we did NOT get a taste of this one before it hit the waxed paper but we did get a lick of peanut butter off the spatula! How generous you are, mom!
Here's the finished product. Mom says it tastes more like candy than cookies! They look so yummy but no taste for us!
Have a great time at the suprise pawty, mom and dad! Maybe you can bring us a doggie bag of acceptable treats! We'll be waiting!
So until next time..............
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

ReplyDeleteWags, Eric
Now you've gone and made me hungry! Hope you get that goodie bag of acceptable treats from the party.
ReplyDeleteLevi's mom
Sorry to spoil your fun guys...:( Tell mommy she has to make Brutus Buckets or Zeusicles to make it up to you.
ReplyDeleteHope they had a good time at the surprise pawty!
You're making me sooooooooooo hungry!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Dave
Ahh, I want some!!!
ReplyDeleteWe hope your pawrents have a pawsome time at the pawty and we hope you get lots of really good treats in that doggie bag.
ReplyDeleteBoy, the list of unacceptable treats seems to be growing...our mom just heard that we shouldn't eat strawberries or raspberries because they are a natural form of Xylitol. We don't know what that is, but we heard about somedogs that ate Orbitz gum and almost died. They are sweetened with Xylitol. Boohoo!
Have a happy Sunday!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches
Nibble on her knees until she makes you something you can eat. Like pizza.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have walnuts too -- until Mom read that they weren't good for dawgs. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't find something wrong with peanut butter, I guess we'll survive.
Those cookies look pawsome. We can smell themall the way down here in South Florida!!
Oh wow your Mom's quite the baker isnt' she! Yum!
ReplyDeleteToday Mom got me some doggie chocolate baked goodies from the dog show where we went. I let my housemates have some when we got home and they love 'em too. Mom is saving the special doggie-carob-bar-on-a-rawhide-stick just for me!
I did Rally Obedience again, our first time at Excellent, and got second place so Mom also let me have the rest of her Mickey D's egg-and-cheese biscuit too. Hold on now I'm going to get fat! (MOM: yeah right)
Mom got us the rats so we could practice Earthdog in our own tunnels in the back yard. So far we haven't practiced yet this year and now it's hot as blazes. I love to come upstairs and YELL hello to them! ("arfarfarfarfarf")
Hmmmmmm. Can we borrow your mom to do some baking here? Ooops. Guess we shouldn't have said that. Better scratch that question in case Jan drops by.
ReplyDeletepurrs and tail wags
Mom calls those last cookies Turtle Cookies. She love love loves them! You guys sure are great sous chefs!
ReplyDeleteI think it is cruelty to animals when our people bake things that we are not allowed to eat! You showed remarkable restraint in not jumping up and eating all those people treats anyway.
ReplyDeleteYour friend,
Niamh
Spoon Lickin' across the universe . . . :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers
Charlie
Yummy!!! Those look so delicious!!...and how nice of your mom to share some yummy treats with you all! :)
ReplyDeletecooking sure is a lot of fun at your house. especially when you get to lick the spoon. but you can thank your mom for not sharing the fudge. that would be very very bad. so we are guessing that there is something wrong with walnuts too? poison? good to know.
ReplyDeletewoofs.
Hi, Maggie and Mitch!
ReplyDeleteThose treats look delicious. Tell you mom thanks for sharing the recipes! I will give them to my grandma when she comes back!
I hope your mom and dad have fun at that party and you get yummy treats too!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
What nice treats those are. To bad you didn't get any.
ReplyDeleteBoy, reading all these posts I'm realizing how many treats I've been missing out on! I only get dog food and treats, not very many people treats except for a piece of foccacia from the restaurant around the corner. Since I was a pup, the maitre d' has been hand-feeding me focaccia, and now I won't budge from their doorway until I get some!
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
Petey
Reading your post has made me AND mom hungry!! Hopefully your mom and dad bring something back to you from the pawty!
ReplyDeleteOoh, we are drooling at your pictures!! My mom wants to try making those peanut butter fudgies next week.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your mom made all those yummies with stuff in it that you can't eat!!! At least you got to lick the peanut butter!!!
ReplyDeleteVelcro
Oh my gosh! They look sooo delish! The mommy is practically dribbling here...But I can't believe your mom used ingredients that dogs can't have besides the peanut butter!

Mom makes the PB & Choc cookies too. She calls them "No Bake" cookies!
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for telling us about the walnuts! Our birdy sister will occasionally drop a whole walnut on the floor. Now mom will have to run & pick it up before we get to it!
Good evening m & m.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday of 50 slowing years old.
We feel the life that spends wonderful every day through blog.
The combination of the cocoa and the peanut butter is very delicious.
This is my favorite dish.
Wonderful life in the future. :)

Huh? All that cooking and nothing for M&M? Come on, she could have at least made something not on the poison list. At least you got a little peanut butter out of the deal.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Mmmm, those look so tasty! Your mom should have made you your own doggie treats after all of that teasing! Especially if you don't get to go to the party.

I'm drooling over those pictures, Maggie and Mitch! Yummmm!
ReplyDeleteMotch says to tell your mom thanks for the recipes; she's going to make some, too.
My mum says the ones that look like poop on the wax paper...she calls them No Bake Cookies and they are her favorite of all times, but she can't eat one and one makes her gain like 100 pounds over night, so she doesn't make them anymore....
ReplyDeleteDeetz
Oh yes we are all drooling here,,YUMMY!! love A+A PL2 says she can not make them becaseu she will eat them all herself
ReplyDeleteOh, my! Those treats look really tasty!! How unfair that your mom PURPOSELY made treats that you can't eat! :(
ReplyDeleteI hope they bring you home something god to make up for it!!
Smooches,
Winnie :-)
