Perfection! Go with it, mom!
For those of you who would like to have the recipe~
Ramen Noodle Cole Slaw Salad
1 head of cabbage
2 Ramen beef noodle packets
1 cup sunflower seeds - mom used walnuts because dad is nuts over them!
1/2 cup slivered almonds
3-4 scallions, chopped - mom used chives right out of our garden instead
Murphey and Reilly's mom adds sesame seeds to her version of this recipe so we added those too and we also tossed in a few poppy seeds!
Break the noodles up and combine all above ingredients in a sealed tupperware container overnight. (note: save the actual beef packets that you find in with the ramen noodles. These are for the next step)
The next morning make the dressing.
Dressing:
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup white vinegar, cider vinegar is okay
2 beef packets
Mix together and pour over the cabbage/ramen mixture. Toss and serve!
It's very simple and VERY yummy!
The bad news is that we didn't get to go and we didn't get any doggie bag! Mom and dad told us all about the good food that was there and how succulent the pig was and how many choices of salads and desserts there were and they stuffed their faces and didn't bring us home anything - not even a smidge! How rude is that, I ask you?!
We hear that we might be having pizza with the football games today so we may just be in a forgiving mood!
So until next time.............
Love ya lots,
Maggie
Crikey what's the point in telling you all about the food when you can't taste it.......that's not how it goes!! I hope you got pizza at least.

I reckon I couldn't eat too much of that without .. well .. how do I say it nicely ... without ... ummm ... getting a bit smelly! ;-)
ReplyDeleteCheers

Pizza! Now THAT sounds like a good plan!
ReplyDeleteMaggie & Mitch,
ReplyDeleteHow could mum and dad not bring anything back for you? One way to make sure mum remember to bring some foodie back for you is to laugh at her when she weigh herself and found out how much weight she had put on after eating everything herself. (Sshhh... please dun let mum know that I have told you this.)

You didn't get to GO!?!? Hrumph! Well, I'll bet that salad would go great with PIZZA - your mom should make some for when you have that!
ReplyDeleteYour mom's recipe is quite different from ours! We'll have to try yours out - sunflower seeds?!!? My mom LOVES sunflower seeds and never thought to add them! We'll post our recipe this week, OK?
Play bows,

They came home with no doggie bags for you and you didn't bite their leggies? They better give you LOTS of pizza and even ice cream as a peace offering! We sure hope they make it up to you!

Your parents owe you big time! Very cruel to describe the delicious feast in such detail and not bring you home even a morsel of pig. I would hold out for pizza with pepperoni on it.
ReplyDeleteYour mom's salad looks delish. I've never had cabbage before but noodles and almonds --mm,mmm good. We will have to try it.
Your friend,
Niamh
I can't believe it!! Not even one teensy bite! How rude...
ReplyDeleteWell, hopefully you will get your own piece of pizza today!
Tell your mom thanks for the recipie. Our mom thinks maybe even SHE could do that!
Hugs
Sunny&Scooter
we are going to have to try that salad. It sounds really good.
ReplyDeletePizza is perfect food so you are better off anyway. Who wants some old roasted oinker.
Is your Mom a "Grand Chef Cuisinier" ? It looks like....miam miam....
ReplyDeleteKisses, Faya
I think that you deserve your OWN pizza to make up for the missing "doggy bag"
ReplyDeleteDouble rude. They didn't bring you anything and then they talked about how yummers everything was. I say they owe you some pizza.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Hi Maggie,
ReplyDeleteYou and your brother are so good at helping in the kitchen!! That is why it is super sad that you didn't even get a doggie bag from the pig roast!
Love Clover xo
Nothing from the pig roast at all? Man, that sucks! I sure hope you got some yummy pizza during football. After helping with the yummy looking salad and hearing all about how delicious the event would be, I would be so sad. I really hope you got some pizza. He he!
ReplyDeleteYour pal,
Kirby
Woof Maggie and Mitch
ReplyDeleteWhat? No doggie bag? That's just not right. They should have smuggled some of that piggy out for you. Anyway, hope you pups are doing good.
Desert Pups
Maggie, you look very upset in that last photo. I don't blame you for not smiling. Hearing about food but not getting to taste it would make me sad too.
