Happy Birthday, Charley!

Today is my friend, Charley's birthday! He is 14 years old!
I first met Charley in 2003! He has been to our house and hung out in dad's workshop and he has been swimming in our pond with Dauby, our swan! No, Dauby didn't bother him or try to drown him! She's a very sweet swan!
One summer, on a Fourth of July weekend, we vacationed with Charley and his family on Nantucket. I got in big trouble one night while we were there! The hoomans had lobster for dindin and there were all kinds of yummy smelling shells in the open garbage can right there within my reach and while the family was in the dining room stuffing their faces and were totally oblivious to what was going on in the kitchen, Charley and I were having a great time helping ourselves to yummy lobster shells!
Remember I said that mom had eyes in the back of her head? She knew that I was up to no good and when she checked on me I had a yummy shell in my grasp and I growled at her to back away from me! Mom is usually very well behaved around company and minds her manners but she lit into me and dragged me from the kitchen telling me the whole time that I had no right talking to her like that! OOPS!
She locked me in the bedroom for the rest of the dinner hour! It wasn't long before the fireworks started going off - well, it was the 4th - and somehow I opened the bedroom door on my own and ran to find mom! I HATE fireworks! Mom sat with me and comforted me while everyone else was outside on the deck watching the firworks display! She still loved me even though I was sassy to her!

In 2005, Charley and his family built a barn on their property and dad and his timber frame group helped raise that barn and I was at the raising with Charley!
I snagged a whole blueberry muffin that day from a lady that wasn't paying attention! Mitch and I wish that you have the best day ever and we hope you get lots of treats and hugs and pressies and ice cream on your very special day! You deserve them all!
