The Before and The After and The Next Stage

Mom is pleased!
The hallway is looking much cleaner and brighter.
The trim color is a Martha Stewart paint called Mourning Dove and she is just loving this color!

Can you see flat George on the freshly painted steps?  We still have another coat to give the risers but that will be the last step before we call it a job well done.
Mom decided no Airedales will be stenciled in the hallway.  booooooooooooooooo
Hey, we tried!
The next phase is the hallway on the second floor!
Can you see the old stencil that runs over the top of that painting that's still hanging in the stairwell?  Mom is afraid of heights and she needs to get over it!
Dad to the rescue!
We have staging!  yahoooooo
Believe it or not, mom and dad will have to duck or bump on the way up and on the way down the stairs.  It won't be any problem for Mitch and I don't do stairs anymore so no problem for me either.
It's kinda wierd looking but it works and mom is not afraid to get on top of the staging!
So the project continues...............  this time on the upper deck!

Guess what?

We got snow!  Dad says there's about a foot of it out there! whoooooohooooooo
Does anyone  need us to send them some?  Khyra?

So until next time.............

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

  2. Hooray!!! You've got snow!!!
    The makeover looks really good.
I am wondering where flat George is at the moment but glad to find him at your house. He is busy travelling these days.

  3. It looks very beautiful! Our mom has that fear of heights thingy too! Years ago, she bought a 24 foot ladder to paint our house, and she found out she can only go four feet up the ladder! What a wuss!

  7. Send that snow to us, please, we have none.

Love that color, but no way would the Momster ever get on those planks:(

    Be careful up there.

  9. Tsar says YES!! Send all you can spare. The weatherman has promised us that we'll get some tonight, but he's been wrong before. In fact, most of the time he's wrong.

  10. Enjoying your lovely progress! New colors make a huge difference, I agree. Oh my gosh that platform.... I too am afraid of heights so I am not sure I would like to see any gaps in the platform but I know your hubby is an expert in these matters so all is undoubtedly well!

There is some comforting soup over at my blog, stop on over for a bowl :) Good on a snowy day!

I see that baby gate at the bottom of the stairs... we have those at our house too... don't allow the Pack downstairs at my house to the completely redone family room.... unless we are present of course ... xoxo

  12. The lighter paint will brighten things up, won't it? I have to confess, though, that the teal was a very pretty color.

  13. Love the morning dove color - so, so pretty! Mom would have a fear of heights too, without the "staging"! Actually, Mom might have a fear of getting up on the "staging" itself! You have a great start on the job - good luck - can't wait to see it done!

Charlie and I would like to thank you very much for you kind words and well wishes during our difficult time. They really mean a lot to us.

And we don't envy your mom her painting job. That staging sure does look scary!

  28. Your hall is looking great - that really is a lovely colour!
We see flat George on the stairs -we thought he was in New York with Asta but he seems to be travelling fast!
We guess being flat he can get around easier.
Good luck with the rest of the painting - once your mom has tread the boards we hope she doesn't take off for a life on the stage!
You know what these humans are like!
