AireCarving

Mom has been away from carving spoons and dishes for a long time.  Recently, a friend of hers asked if she could make her one for something very special and mom thought about it and checked her wood supply and said yes!

But first - it's been YEARS since mom has carved so she needs to get back into the swing of things.

You all ask about mom's wooden ornies on the Airedale Christmas tree.  So now you can see.  She has to slice the handle so it's not so thick and voila - the ornie!
Mom has her very own bandsaw. It normally is cluttered with Indian motorcycle stuff but thanks to the celebration of life pawty, it's cleared off and back in business!
Mom forgot how many carving tools dad has.  The drawers are loaded and the tools are nice and sharp!

Remember this stunning AireArrangement from Putter's mom and Sunshade's mom~
Do these eyes and nose look familiar?

Can you see that purple heart stud earring?   Mom wanted a girlie dish because My Maggie was a girlie girl.  So mom went to her jewelry box and was searching for one that was just perfect.  And in the corner of her box she discovered this purple heart stone.  She had no clue how it got there and she's never see it before in her life.
Mom has tears in her eyes again.  We know where this stone came from, don't we?  It came from the Rainbow Bridge and it was sent by angel Maggie because she knew that it would be the perfect addition to HER dish!

The dish is made out of butternut wood and the flower is mahogany and the flower center is maple and the leaf is cherry and the eyebrow is chestnut.

So mom has been spending time in the workshop carving in between spending days at Crumpie's barn helping dad on the cupola project and she's having the best time!

So until next time...........

Love ya lots,
Mitch

I Got Snow

We woke up to snow yesterday morning.  What a wonderful surprise!
I couldn't wait to go for my morning walkie.  Sorry the picture is blurry but I was just SO excited!
I got to say hi to my Portuguese Water Dog friend, Carlie.  She is usually very obedient and listens to her dad when he tells her to stay in her yard.  It must have been the snow that made her disobey!  Snow has a way of making us nutty, doesn't it!
This is the Secret Garden in the snow.  It's so lovely and so peaceful.

This is our yellow Witch Hazel in the snow~
And this is the smaller red one~
I know this snow isn't going to last so I'm going to enjoy it while it's here!

Today has been 1 whole month since My Maggie left us for the Rainbow Bridge.   We sure miss you a lot, Maggie.  Not a day goes by that we don't think of you.

So until next time..............

Love ya lots,
Mitch

Another Cupola Update

The last time you saw the cupola base, it was still in our barn and heading out the door to head over to Crump's barn.
Don't ask me why there are bubbles all over this picture, but there are.
The cupola base is safe at Crump's and it's sitting right next to that handsome black car that dad keeps telling me to keep my noseprints off of!
I sure wish I could get behind the wheel and take that baby for a spin!  Who wants to go with me?
The cupola is being built in 3 sections.  The above picture is the base that sits directly on the roof.
This is the body that we're working on and it will have clapboards and trim and windows added.

Uncle Phil and dad installed a new window upstairs so I can keep my eye on who's coming and going!

The sheet rockers are working and the bathroom is coming along beautifully!

Today is my mom and dad's anniversary.  They've been married for 39 years!   I sure wish I could have tasted some of their wedding cake!

So until next time............

Love ya lots,
Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Pearl Gray

I'm playing True Colors with Reilly and Denny again this week.

This week's color is pearl gray~

Mom can't wait for color in the garden.  It's so drab in February.
This is a fire back that leans against the back wall of a fireplace.  It's made of cast iron. It absorbs the heat and throws more of it back into your room rather than sending it up and out the chimney.

The twist~

A gray day with our Witch Hazel coming into bloom!
See you all next week!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

I Was Tagged!

Winston tagged me to tell you stuff about myself.

1. Describe yourself in 7 words.
Handsome, hardworking, intelligent,  fun, adventurous, energetic, a foodie and a lover boy-thanks mom

2. What keeps you up at night?
I have 2 beds upstairs and I go back and forth between the two of them sometimes 3-4 times a night.  I don't know why - I just do!

3.  Who would you like to be?
I like being me!  I think I have it pretty good being exactly who I am!

4.  What are you wearing right now?
Just my furs.  I don't mind bandanas but I dislike coats and run when mom tries to put one on me.

5.  What scares you?
Anything with wheels that is rolling towards me.  I high tail it outta there as fast as I can go!

6.  The best and worst of blogging?
That's easy!  Our blogging community is the bestest ever!  When anyone needs help or a kind word; you guys are always right there to lend support and encouragement.
The worst is when one of our community is sick or dying. That really stinks.

7.  The last website that you visited?
Winston's, of course!

8.  What is the one thing that you would change about yourself?
Be better on the leash for morning walkies.  I hate getting corrections!

9.  Slankets, yes or no?
Nope.

10.  Tell something about the doggie who tagged you?
Winston is a very handsome 7 year old Wire Fox Terrier.  He's kinda new to blogging and if you haven't met him, you're really missing out.  Please go say hi!

This is where I'm supposed to tag 8 peeps.  I think lots of you have already played so if you haven't and you want to, consider yourself tagged.

So until next time..........

Love ya lots,
Mitch

Shrimp Bisque and a Marrow Bone

I got to help mom make Shrimp Bisque this past week!
And look what I got for being the bestest helper~
A shrimp!
Dad was away for the day so we made him a special dindin.  It sure does smell yummy!

While the soup was cooking away, I was enjoying a marrow bone.
When My Maggie was diagnosed with kidney disease, she couldn't have marrow bones anymore, which meant that neither could I because mom never wanted to make her feel bad.
I'm sure enjoying this marrow bone!  It's been 2 years since I had one!
Dindin is served!

Dad surprised us with dessert from Lexington, Massachusetts!

Not sure exactly what it was but it was sure yummy!

A top secret pressie arrived in our mail box a few days ago.  It's from our goodest and bestest friend, Putter.   It's photos and a video and it's so many wonderful memories of My Maggie and Putter together and guess what -  I'm in there too - when I was just a little boy!  It's a wonderful gift and it had mom laughing and crying at the same time.  Thank you so very much, Putter.  You are the BEST!

Some of pictures are the same ones that are on this beautiful collage that Putter and her mom, Kate, gave us a couple of years ago.  Some of these pictures are of the first time we ever met and of Putter's trips to our house and even hikes at Sleeping Giant.
So many wonderful memories and we love them all - every single one of them is so very, very special.  Thank you so much, Putter!

And another pressie arrived!  This beautiful table runner was made by Karen, the mom of Dave and Zim! Dave picked out the fabrics knowing that they would match our re-do dining room to perfection and guess what?  They do!   Isn't our table lovely with the new runner! Thank you so very much, guys!  We are so honored to have a handmade masterpiece by your mom!
We sure do have the best and most generous and loving friends!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

I'm Supervising

I'm the head supervisor at Crump's barn these days.  Dad is installing 2 bathrooms and I need to make sure that it's done correctly.
This is the bathroom on the first floor.  The plumbing works!
How do you like the sink that I picked out?  Very masculine, huh!
 The other bathroom is upstairs.
Come on up~
 This bathroom is larger.
 It even has a shower!
Don't go getting any ideas about any bathing for Mitchy, dad!
This is the medicine chest waiting to be hung.
Who's the doggie in the mirror?

When we got back home, we discovered that the brown UPS truck left me a box on the back porch.
Mom bought me tripe!   A whole case of it!
That's a nice reward for a hard-working supervisor.  Thanks, mom!

On Tuesday, we got another wonderful and very touching gift in the mail from our friends, Penny, Velcro, Ceilidh, Jack Sparrow, Blossom, Skye, angel Kodak, angel 3 Perf and angel Winston.
A tree will be planted in memory of My Maggie. What an incredibly thoughtful gift, guys. Thank you so very much!
I also wanted to thank all of you who voted for My Maggie in the Too Darn Cute category.    She won the Reader's Choice award at Mango Minster 2012!  I just know that she's celebrating with all of her friends at the Rainbow Bridge and I just know they'll be having pizza and ice cream!  Thank you, thank you!

So until next time.......

Love ya lots,
Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Aqua

I'm playing True Colors again with Reilly and Denny.  Come on, guys - join in. It's fun!

This week's color is aqua.

Mom keeps pots of water on our radiators in the winter time to put moisture into the Aire.    This is the inside of the pot in our family room.
Our ribbons from Wyatt and Stanzie!
Mom always eats cereal for lunch and she always shares some with me!

The twist~

Me and my dad on Nantucket~
 See you all next week!

Love ya lots,
Mitch
