My Maggie is Home

The animal hospital gave us a call on Wednesday afternoon and told us that My Maggie's ashes were back.  My dad had a doctor's appointment in New Haven so he stopped there on his way home to pick them up.
My Maggie is home.

Maggie loved Nantucket - we all do.  It's the bestest spot on the entire face of this earth!
Mom bought her Nantucket basket purse in 1992 and she carried it only a handful of times.  It was made by an Islander and it wasn't cheap and she was so afraid that it would get squashed or damaged so all these years, it's been a conversation piece in our family room.  Not any longer.  Maggie is inside mom's Nantucket basket surrounded by beautiful cheerful flowers, especially blue hydrangeas.  We tucked a seashell inside the flowers that we found at Jetties Beach  along with a couple of other souvenirs that we've collected over the years.  Carol Usher made the WoolieDale with the carrot toy.  Mr Carrot was one of My Maggie's favorite toys when she was younger.   Every single day while we were on our vacation, My Maggie and I had ice cream so the needle felted ice cream cone is so fitting.       Carol's wonderful gift arrived on Thursday with her beautiful card and we were so touched.  Thank you so much, Carol.

Yesterday, the FedEx man knocked at our back door.  Look what he delivered~

It's a beautiful flower arrangement. It's from The Rainbow Bridge and it's from Maggie~

Thank you so very, very much, Miss Elaine and Miss Kate.  You guys are the best!

Every time mom reads the note, she begins to weep because it's so special and she misses her little girl so much.
Until we're together again..........

"And if I go, while you are still here...
Know that I still live on,
Vibrating to a different measure,
Behind a thin veil that you cannot see through.
You will not see me, so you must have faith.
I will wait there for the time when we can soar together again, both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to the fullest.
And when you need me, just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there."

We love you, Maggie, and we miss you so very, very much!

Mom, dad and Mitch

  12. Oh my house is flooded with tears again today. Maggie, you rest in peace now in that beautiful basket. You're home and in our hearts forever.
Your pawrents are the bestest, they miss you and love you, always.
We boys are not very good at expressing our thoughts but we were very impressed and touched with your daddy's post the other day, he did make us proud! And congrats to the Giants, that game was super excited 'til the last second!
My mom has my angel brother Ringo's ashes in a wooden box that next to his leash. He went to the rainbow bridge 4 years ago, my mom still has her eyes moist whenever she thinks of him.
Maggie, the most popular hat girl, we send pre-Valentine love.
Mitch, you're wonderful to your sister!
    Cheers!

  37. Maggie is home. Our hearts feel for you. I remember the day I brought my Half Pence home. It was his birthday. He passed nine days short of his thirteen birthday. The vet called on his birthday that his ashes had come back. Ironic I ask or was it a message like your 6 of hearts card.
I have to believe Maggie will continue to reach out and touch you. Maggie is Home.

  44. When the Time comes
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can’t be won.

You will be sad, I understand
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stands the test.

We’ve had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears,
Would you want me to suffer so?
When the time comes please let me go.

Take me where my needs they’ll tend,
Only stay with me ‘til the end,And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,
It is a kindness that you do to me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you
Who must decide this thing you do
We’ve been so close, we two these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tear

In our house we know just how you feel.

We have our first Airedale 'Leo' in a little box on our mantle with his collar, paw print and our favorite picture of him in his gardening hat. It makes mom smile every time she dusts the mantle.

P.S. The flowers in our walking post were 'Mediterranean Pink' Heather.

  57. Hi Mitch,

Sorry I'm so late coming over but thank you so much for your lovely comment on my blog. And also very belated Condolence Slobbers for Maggie. I didn't really know her (or you!) but I often heard about her on other doggie blogs. She seemed like sucj a wonderful doggie and great character and I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to know her better. That is the most beautiful memorial holder for Maggie's ashes! The ones we see here are all just plain wooden boxes - never seen anything so beautiful! What a lovely way to remember Maggie,
