Teaching Them A Lesson

We do not have pictures for evidence so you will have to trust us.    We were heading out on our leashes to our red barn playpen to patrol and have some fun while mom weeded the gardens.  What we didn't know when we stepped outside the door onto our back porch was that Buster and Hazel were RIGHT THERE to welcome us.  Molly went into kill mode and I followed her lead.  We were chasing them as best we could (for being tethered on leashes) and we circling and going left and right to try to see what would happen if we jumped on top of them!
As this was happening, mom was hanging onto us for dear life and yelling our names to STOP!   And were we listening?  Heck no!
Mom was finally able to take control and get us into our red barn playpen where the door was shut and she could breathe a sigh of relief.   What would dad say if she had to tell him that 2 of his precious Black Swans got eaten by his favorite furkids?  hummmmmmm - do you think maybe they would taste like licorice?

We were teaching them a lesson, dad!  Suppose it wasn't two dogs on leashes that approached Buster and Hazel.   Suppose it was some other dogs out wandering and decided to check out our yard.  We let them know that it's not safe to be so far away from the pond, which is where they need to be for their safety.
Aren't you so proud of us, dad ☺
For the rest of the morning, Hazel kept antagonizing us by approaching the fence and trying to let us know that she was in charge and she was the boss and our way of greeting her and Buster at the back porch was not acceptable behavior.   What nerve!
Hazel would go back and forth to Buster for his approval.
And meanwhile, in the vege garden.   Someone is eating our tomatoes!    Yes, we have an over-abundance and we can't keep up.   I guess she thinks she's helping us out.
And guess what else mom discovered~
Jimson Weed - a beautiful plant but a deadly poisonous plant!  Thank goodness it's not within our reach!

And remember the morning glory near our back door that wasn't blooming?
It is now!
We have had a very exciting day!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots♥

  1. I think Harlow would drag me through anything to get to a bird. I don't think I could stop her! I'm glad everyone is safe and sound.

  3. Oh Lordy be and that is why she doesn't take me to the forbidden zone in the park (roads) and the ponds because of the ducks and swans etc. We have loads of toms but some little beast keeps nibbling bits so we have to pick them just before ripe and let them rip indoors. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  10. My goodness you two have had an exciting day. What a shock to see the two swans as you walked out the door, perhaps they were going to check out your beds! The flowers are lovely and so nice to see as we go into Autumn. Hugs, Susie & Treacle x

  12. We are sure Buster and Hazel learned their lesson, and Dad should be very proud of you. We just know you wouldn't harm the pretty swans.

  13. Yes a very exciting day... Teaching the swans to be careful of dogs... We have some cats that come up to our fence and tease us. We have to bark and tell them to stay in their own yard.. Have to say we kind spa enjoy it..but mom usually tells us to "quiet"

  18. It was great that you showed the swans that not all dogs might be as nice as you are. You were just pretending not to be nice, of course...

  19. Those silly birds need to learn to stay safe in their area. Our ducks used to wander all over the place, too. They would sneak into the swimming pool when no one was looking.

  24. Uh oh, going after the swans was a little naughty of you Mitch and Molly.

If you want to get rid of your tomatoes Mama would gladly take them.
