The Durham Fair

Mom and dad went to the Durham Fair last night and left us all alone at home.   No dogs allowed, she says.  The weatherman forecast rain - could be heavy at times with winds.  It was the perfect evening. None of that happened.  Mom says it was because she and dad both wore raincoats and she had her umbrella with her. They arrived at the very beginning of the fair and paused as our National Anthem was sung on the loud speakers.

The very first thing mom and dad did as soon as they entered the gates was eat.   The vendors make it pretty easy!
Mom waits all year for this huge sugar donut!   Yup, it was worth it ☺
And dad waits all year for his apple crisp and he said it was delicious and it was huge!  Dad had the very first apple crisp at the 2014 Durham Fair.  He was well rewarded!   He also had an order of fries and they both had steamed cheesburgers but they were so busy feeding their faces that mom forgot to take those pictures.
Hey, we thought you said no dogs allowed, mom!
This poor fireman was sitting on the roof when they got there and he was still sitting on the roof when they left~
No, he didn't buy it but he thought about it!
The quilts were gorgeous as always.
They hang from the ceiling so you can't really see the work up close.   Mom really wanted to study that peacock quilt.  The picture doesn't do it justice. It was just gorgeous!
 A dessert quilt!
And a mini for the season ☺

 The flowers were beautiful~

And the mini arrangements were adorable~
The best part of the fair - the animals!

 Yes, he's fake~
But this one is real.    He has big feathers growing on his feets!  Don't you trip when you walk, buddy?

These guys had blue powder on their butts.  hummmmmm
We asked this little girl if we could take her picture.  She sure does love her sheepie friend ♥

Do you think he needs to see his dentist?
 These goats were best buddies.
 And so were these guys~
Mom and dad finally found the huge pumpkins!

Imagine a pumpkin in your garden that size!
He would make 87 thousand pumpkin pies!
 Yup, the absolute perfect evening~
So until next time............

Love ya lots♥

  4. Hmmmmmm. We think they just told you it was going to rain as an excuse to abandon you. We have a Show here, similar to a fair, but we're never allowed to go either.

That Apple Crisp was HUGE! We think you should have been there to help your dad eat it.

  6. What no dogs allowed???? Hmm likely story we say. Looked great and we loved seeing all the animals and the pumpkins and loved the Halloween quilt. Nice one but would have been better with dogs methinks. Have a fabulous Friday.

It might have cost Dad another apple crisp if they had. Wow, that looked good. Best not to let Freya know as she's still on her diet. Looks as if Mom and Dad had a great time, maybe they can sneak you in next year :-) x x x

  17. Looks like your pawrents had a great time. Our mom wouldn't like a quilt show hanging from the rafters either. It is more fun to see the quilts close up.
