Mackie's mom wrote on Sunday to let me know that Mackie had passed away on Saturday. It came as a shock as I wasn't expecting this news. Molly and Mackie lived together for almost a year before Geo and I split so I watched Mackie grow up from a small wee pup to just a week or so before his first birthday.
Sweet potato fries and a stink eye from Molly~
TheAirekids got along okay living together. We had visits from Mackie often when we lived in our apartment with the fenced in yard. They actually got along better than before as Molly truly loved being an only furChild.
When we moved from the apartment to where we live now, I continued to groom Mackie so we could keep in touch. He was such a SuperSweet and lovable boy♥Mackie's very favorite toys since I have known him were his Furballz~
He never chewed them. He suckled on them and I always suspected it was because he came to us at 6 weeks old, which is way too young for a puppy to leave his mom.
Mackie's mom also let me know that Mackie's brother, Jett, passed away only a few days before Mackie did. I knew that Jett had lymphoma and that his days were numbered but I didn't know until Saturday that Mackie had brain cancer. The news was just devastating.
I don't have photos of Jett as Molly and I only lived with him for a week or so before we moved.
Missy sent me this photo of her dad and Jett warming themselves by the fire. Geo told me more than once that anyone who met Jett, loved him from the start.
My heart goes out to Mackie and Jett's mom. Her life went from having two wonderful dogs, who she loved dearly, to having none in such a short period of time. I can't even imagine the pain she's in.
Sadly, Mackie and Jett were only eight years old - both gone way too soon.
I know how hard it is to lose your precious pup and you lost two of them so close together. Life can be so unfair. Huge hugs to you, Kim♥Love,
Sue
What is going on with dogs these days! Our best nose work trainer had a Golden Retriever that was seven. Fine until last Wed, then started having odd issues and yesterday she passed away from a brain tumor. Madison was only eight, and we lost a few other friends who were not yet ten in the last six months. It is so very sad for the family especially, but all the others that knew these wonderful pups. Hugs to you and all who loved Mackie so much.
ReplyDeleteThat is so very sad. Our condolences.

Oh no, that is just tragic. Hard enough to lose one, but two so close together. We remember when Mackie came into your life - that surprise gift from Missouri, if Mom remembers correctly. He was a handsome boy. Jett was very handsome too. Soft woos and gentle hugs to you and to their mum.

Dang, that's horrible and way too sad. We send hugs and love to Mackie's very special family.
ReplyDeleteHow terribly sad. The day will be darker without him, his star will light up the night sky
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I still remember when Mackie joined your family. And, yes, 8 years old is definitely "gone too soon". Please extend my condolences to Mackie and Jett's family as well.
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Awww, we are very sorry to hear about Mackie and Jett!"
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Sí, eight is far too young to say goodbye to a Very Good Dog!"
Chaplin: "Cancer ― that is what helped take our beloved brother Dennis. We hate it."
Lulu: "We send lots of tail wags for Mackie and Jett and their families."
Charlee: "And we cats send lots of purrs!"
It is always the worst bit of having our fur babies when they leave us for the Rainbow Bridge but for both of them to go so soon and so young, I am so sorry. I hope, in time, she will be able to get a new fur person in her life. Mackie was so sweet and we loved to see him and Molly together especially after having an Airecut. Sending all our love across the Pond. Hugs & Love, Susie & Coco xx
