Our Fourth of July Visitor

None of us slept very well last night! The stoopid fireworks were still going off at 1AM and I had been constantly trying to find just the right spot to hide!
Mom gates us upstairs at night so she can sleep and know that we won't fall down the stairs! Why the heck do you bother with the nightlight at the bottom of the stairs, mom?

This morning mom was brushing her toofies and she just happened to glance down into the bathroom trash basket!
Do you see what we see? How the heck did he get in there?
Mom thought that it was a good idea not to alert Mitch! That boy is a fabulous mouser and he would have been on the case in seconds!
You have to know that last week mom just happened to glance down in the upstairs trash can and OMG, she saw a bat! No, she didn't run and get the camera! She ran and got dad and asked him why he put a dead bat in the trash can! Dad said that he didn't do any such thing which meant that the bat was ALIVE! EWWWWWWWWWW!
Dad through a towel over the top of the trash can and took Mr. Bat outside, kissed him good-by and told him to have a safe trip to the AO4's house! Bats are welcome there!

We want to wish all of our USA friends a very happy Independence Day!
Yes, that would be MY ice cream cone stuffie that Mitch has in between HIS paws!
So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  1. Happy 4th of July to you too.

If a bat got in our house, even a Scottie wouldn't be able to run faster than our Mom.

  5. We're sorry you have had fireworks already! We've had a few, but they were far enough away that us doggies didn't bark. Now, tonight might be another story!

Wow! Such excitement at your house! A bat AND a mouse! That mousie is a cute little guy, but he wouldn't even make a respectable snackie for our large
    'dale jaws!

Happy 4th of July! We are hoping for rain tonight. We know that's mean for all the peeps that want to shoot of fireworks, but we don't care!

  10. Eeee! A mouse! Did you put him in the witness protection program?

Our old barn had a bat house, but it was empty when the barn burned down. Hopefully we can attract more with a new one. We like bats, but outside please.

  11. Hi Maggie & Mitch
Loving the ice cream cone stuffie!
We had a mouse the other day - Bailey went berserk! Dad blamed mum for leaving the back door open all the time - she thinks he doesnt like them either but doesn't want to say - it will be a man thing!
Happy 4th - enjoy the celebrations - let's hope there aren't too many fireworks!

oooh! Thanks for sending us another bat! They eat TONS of mosquitoes, so Mom is happy for them to ... hang around outside of our house. OUTSIDE of our house. That's the key!

  14. Hey! That looks just like the mouse I caught last night! In Mommy's bedroom. I left it on the carpet for her to admire and she had the nerve to make nasty noises and throw my trophy away. She did the same thing to Mica last year. What dumb mices to come into a house with a ratter like me and a wild cat like Mica!

  23. You had a mouse in your house? I just don't know what I'd do if I found a mouse, perhaps play with it....perhaps lick it.... perhaps eat it. I'm just not sure.

A mouse in the house!! Yikes!! Don't think the little man's mum would have been so calm and able to take photos!!

  25. OMD! Mom is completely freaking out. She just does not cope well with rodents, and she knows it is completely illogical. But since when does logical have to do with anything right? She'll take an icky spider any day over a mouse and definitely over a bat.

  26. I hate to admit it, but that mouse is awfully cute. Sorry to hear that the fireworks have been disrupting your sleeping schedules. Hopefully it will end soon as I'm not a fan of this whole celebrating with loud booming noises either.

  27. No mice or bats here please. Mom and Dad went to an outdoor theater last night and Mom was worried about bats. The night before they were flying all over the stage swooping down on bugs. One even crashed into one of the actors. But luckily none were seen last night.

    Happy 4th, the OP Pack

  28. Ohh you should've called ME and I'd have taken care of Mr Mousie for you. I help Mom find the bunnies in the yard -- flushed one out of her veggie garden this week.

Hope you survive your 4th -- I'm staying close to Mom tonight to protect her from all the boomies outside. This weekend we've been driving to another agility trials an hour away. Today I qualified in Jumpers but Mom messed me up in our Standard run. I had TONS of fun getting people to pet me though! I also kept jumping up on things, like tables (3 times) and an ARCADE game once just to surprise Mom!! (MOM: I wasn't the only person he surprised!!)

    I'm feeling GOOD these days...

  37. Hey a movable fluffy toy. don't say they lets it go when you coulds of had so much fun chasing it. We gets bats in our house, usually when we gets mums up to lets us out in the middle of nights, so she leaves the door open for us to comes back in while she goes to do the same, then she has to open the door again and herd it outs, theys fly around and around till they finds the open door. great funs for us. nots telling whats mums says.

  44. What a way to bring the end of a celebration to an end! Do you spose that mouse was hiding because of the fireworks? We've heard of dogs in bathtubs, but not mice in trash cans. Ewww. Nina-Girl was happy to see that it was alive. Did you release it like you did the bat? And do you think there are more where that one came from? Ewwww!

  45. The mouse and bat may be pals. Yeah. The batty gained wings earlier somehow. Who knows, the mouse might morph and grow wings later... you should keep it and watch on.

oohh..we got suprise visits from mr.mouse sometimes too. I have asked mommy not to let him get to my food. I don't mind sharing but mr. mouse has bad reputation of pooping on the food after he eats.
