We are joining Sunny today for Nature Friday~~
We have not been walking along the road since the snow fell and then it iced up. With the rain and fog that we've had the last two days, our driveway is finally safe to walk on and drive on so these photos are before we had snow two weeks ago.
These puffer mushrooms are growing on the stump where the shag bark hickory once grew.Look what mom found at the base of our copper beech tree! She definitely self-sowed! What a wonderful January surprise!
And today, the ice has all turned to water with the warmer temps and rain.
Mom saw this on FB and wanted to share it here~~
Happy Friday, everybuddy!
Love ya lots♥
Molly
Hi Molly,
ReplyDeleteWe love your mushrooms and your pretty January surprise bloom. And thank you do much for the favourite nature fact.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
what a cute surprise, even in january... thats real flower power. we love this quote and we hope our birth tree is a mighty oak...
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible winter. Glad your ice is gone so you can get out at least. We are tired of seeing all the brown, fog, and cloudy days. Winter is normally so cheerful here with cold, snow, and lots of sunshine, but not this year. Everyone in the country seems to be having issues with it of some sort.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to find a pansy flowering in all that chill. I wonder what your tree (or my tree) for life is. I want someone to plant a tree ON me after I depart this life.
ReplyDeleteMolly and Sue I am so happy you are finally able to take you walks. You found the most amazing and surprising delicate yet fiercely resilient Pansy. Thank you. And the quote about trees is new to me but will not be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteLove you Cecilia
Java Bean: "What is a puffball?"
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Dada says it's a mushroom that spits out a cloud of spores if you step on it."
Java Bean: "Ayyy, what?! Like the fungus in that show 'The Last of Us' with the fungus zombies?!"
Lulu: "I don't think it's quite like—"
Java Bean: "Run away, Molly! Run away!"
We can't believe you found a flower blooming this time of year! We would like to find the trees that are growing along with us.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad Mom got out to the store - so she didn't have to start on your kibble supply!
ReplyDeleteHappy FrEYEday!

You found some nice things out there sweet Molly! I hope you have a really fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have been able to stretch your legs and send us lovely pictures
ReplyDeleteThe self-sowed Pansy( Or Viola? )is so delightful, it made me forget winter.☺️ I’m relieved to hear your driveway is safer now, please keep safe still all winter. Thank you for today’s nature fact. I like to think that we are all connected with trees.💚
ReplyDeleteTree-lover, Julia
That little pansy flower is sure brave blooming in the middle of winter like that!
ReplyDeleteMolly! Something happened over the weekend. I found out that a tree is planted on the same day my friend is born so they are of the same age! The tree is much taller though.😆 This brings me back to the nature fact you shared.💚
ReplyDeleteThankful for trees, Julia
Thanks for the nice nature walk, Molly. We have pansies growing at the entrance to our development, but they don't look terribly healthy. They need more of the sun that we finally got toay.
