White Chocolate Covered Pretzels

This is actually a recipe on how NOT to make white covered chocolate pretzels!

Dad has a meeting to go to tonight and because it's the holiday season, they've asked everyone to bring something fun to share with the group so mom had this great idea to whip up something that she's eaten before but has never made before!

If you've ever had these chocolate covered pretzels (which I haven't because I can't eat chocolate) you know that the combination of the salt and the sweet chocolate is killer good (so mom says!)

So we found this recipe online and mom was thrilled and couldn't wait to get started!
Mom got to work melting the chocolate (or so she thought) in her make-shift double boiler!

She has never dipped strawberries or done any sort of chocolate dipping before and apparently you don't just grab a bag of chocolate chips off the shelf in the baking section of the grocery store and expect them to melt!

Things weren't going well at this point but I scored anyway with lots of broken pretzel bits!

Thank goodness mom didn't get discouraged and she just plowed ahead like a true Airedale would ----- Yeaaaa, mom!

She scooped chocolate on those pretzel babies and sprinkled them with red and green sugars and they look very edible and pretty awesome to me and I told her so but she still told me NO, MAGGIE, you can't have any - not even one!
Okay, okay - you don't have to shout!

So we arranged them all pretty on a plate and dad took them to his meeting! I wonder if they'll get rave reviews? We'll have to let you all know!

The mailman brought us a package today from Koobie! Koobie sent us the most awesome Airedale sticker plus a CD full of wonderful Christmas music!

Thank you so much, Koobie! We listened to your CD while we were eating dinner and it was so enjoyable! Mom said that there were lots of songs on there that she's hasn't heard in quite awhile and all of the Babes in Toyland stuff really made her smile! That was so sweet of you, Koobie. That was a very generous thing that you did! We really appreciate it!

And just to let you all know................. We're getting snow right this very minute! It started about 10AM this morning, and then it turned to sleet (YUK) and now it's back to snow! The weatherman has predicted 6-10 inches and we're hoping it's more on the 10" side! We hope to post pictures of us playing in the snow tomorrow!

So until next time...............

Love ya lots,

Maggie

  15. Hey Mags, We're getting snow here too. We must be sending it your way. There is going to be a big blizzard on Sunday and we're supposed to get another 30 cm, so brace yourselves! It will probably be warmer where you are, but hopefully you get snow instead of sleet.

  18. pee ess. Maggie, your beard is looking pawsome. Bailey has the ability to grown a nice beard, but our mom can't stand it at all. she likes moustaches, but not beards. however, yours does look lovely. we liked it when you braided it.

  23. Hey, girl!

Hope there's plenty more pretzel bits where those first ones came from. (You're so helpful in the kitchen. I try to be, but usually end up getting in the way).

I hope you guys get loads of snow. Can't wait to see you guys romping in the white stuff.

    Goober love,

  24. Those pretzels look great! My mum has learnt her lesson - never ever cook something you haven't cooked before to a deadline. Surefire recipe for kitchen-stress.

  25. Actually, white chocolate probably isn't that bad for you in very small amounts. There's no real chocolate in it :) And you should be able to melt it pretty easily if water doesn't get in it. The microwave is easier than a double boiler.
