Nantucket - The Start

We left for Nantucket Friday the 23rd just before 4AM to catch the 7:30 ferry headed to Nantucket! Dad is enjoying his coffee and bagel with cream cheese and it looks so good! Wanna share with two starving dogs, dad?!

Mom and dad took us out for picnic dindins 5 nights out of the 8 that we were there so we were never left home alone much. Our very favorite spot is called Something Natural! One of their sandwiches is HUGE and mom and dad can order one and both be full. We brought our own bag of chips and our own flavored water and we were happy as larks! Hurry up with that sandwich, dad! The first night was strawberry ice cream! All of the ice creams on Nantucket are handmade and so good! There is no bad choice!Nantucket Ice Cream shop is right next to the high speed ferry and while we were sitting there waiting for dad to come back the ferry tooted his horn and pulled out! You sorta get the smell of exhaust in your face but you forget about it as soon as you take that first lick of ice cream!

Our day would start off with a walk to surfside beach, we'd come home and rest and then head into town so dad could get the newspaper to read on the beach. It didn't take us long to settle in and slow down to the Nantucket pace! This kitty wasn't even afraid of us! We were told that he thinks he's a dog!
One of the side streets has a tiny park-like area with benches and lots of pretty flowers and some woman was feeding the ferrel cats that hang around! I was making sure that their food was up to snuff!
The greatest thing about the island is that it's never hot - there's always a breeze! Our car windows were down all the time so we could stick our heads out the window and bark out a hello to any dog that we missed strolling through town!
Vacation is soooooooooooooooo relaxing!
We had tons of peemail to check out!

Out of all the pretty things on the Island, this was mom's dream! She said it looks like a tennis shoe to her and she would just LOVE to own one if she lived on Nantucket! It definitely would have to be an around-town car on the mainland because it's really small! It's called a Smart car!

This shop is called Cold Noses and this guy was in the window wearing his doggles! He's life size!

We have many more adventures to share with all of you!

So until then...................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  9. Wow, sounds like a fun adventure! I think my girl has been stingy with the ice cream because it sounds to me like all you other dogs get it way more often then I do. I'm going to have to have a talk with her about this. Oh yeah.... I still got to remind her about that watermelon sherbet too!
