WoolieDale George

Mom was visiting Carol Usher's website a week ago on Monday and she discovered that Carol had a brand new book for sale on the history of the Wooliedales! Seeing as she owns quite a few of them, she thought that this would be a perfect gift and decided to treat herself but before she left the site, she took a look at the woolies for sale and discovered an Airedale that she thought was just adorable (heck, they're all adorable)! She learned that his name was George. Our dad's name is George and last Monday was George Washington's birthday so she knew it was deja vu that she have George!

George and the book arrived in the mail and mom fell in love like she does whenever a package from Carol Usher arrives here!

Back in October, when we were at Barktoberfest, mom saw this handsome guy and had to have him! He made the cover of Carol's new book! Is that cool or what?!
Thumbing through the book, Goosey Gander that mom bought in 2005, made the cut. Goosey is #415.
Macintosh Mitch(#739) is now famous and Maggie with her teddy, bought in 2003 (#281) is sleeping with her teddy just like this guy is!
Meet George! He made the cut too! Isn't he so handsome? And Sarafina was in luck! Sarafina (#433) from 2005 is normally sitting on her beach chair enjoying the Nantucket surf! You have to see the back cover of the book! It's Jessie and Scuffer - Carol's furkids! Two Woolies that didn't make the book were me with my ice cream cone and Mitch begging for a lick! These are 2 of mom's very favorite Woolies of all time! They're called "Two in Paradise"!

Can you see Squirt and his fire hydrant in the background? Mom won Squirt (#275) in the Barktoberfest raffle in 2003!Carol Usher has been needle-felting WoolieDales for 9 years and she numbers every single one of them and names them all! That's what all of these above numbers meant.

The WoolieDale in the middle of this next picture is Fuller and she's numbered at #38 and mom got her in 2001. She's our very first WoolieDale and we got her at a Barktoberfest event! What a fun day that was!
There's George again in front of Mitch. His number is #810 and he's a 2010 WoolieDale! So mom has been collecting for the nine years that Carol has been needle-felting WoolieDales! That's a picture of Carol and to the left are all of the Woolie tags that have the number and names. Mom sure has lots of them!Carol's needle-felted beauties go all over the world! Our mom feels so very fortunate to have so many of them. They are some of her most prized posessions!

So until next time...............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  1. Well all those little wooliedales are cute but of course our favorites are you two with the ice cream! Your mom has quite a collection. If we had woolies, Ambrose would think they were stuffies unfortunately.

  9. Those wolliedales are amazing! I've got flat Brutus and a sock-doll version of myself (custom made to look just like me), but us guys have us trumped big-time! They are so realistic, we love the poses and the names Carol gave them (especially "Squirt"). If she made Frenchies, I think mom would need to get an extra job to support what would surely be a huge collection!!

  13. What a wonderful collection of beautiful wooliedales!!! It's a good thing Carol doesn't make wooliewires or our Mom would be in big trouble!

Enjoy the book and George and the whole -- we're thinking of what to call a collection of dales -- can't think of one, so we'll settle for - entourage.

  33. Hi Sweeties!!
I know I've been lacking in reading this year but I'm catching up.

I love all your WoolieDales! I know a woman who makes them too. Maybe you know her? Her name is Connie Versagi ...I know her from Facebook. She has the 3-legged 'dale named Max. She makes lots of very fun stuff.

Anyway, I'm so happy you have a big house to put all those dad jeans and people shoes in. Humans seem to need so much stuff! BOL!

I've never ate butternut squash or alfalfa sprouts but the look on Mitch's face with a mouthful of sprouts is PRICELESS!!
    I BOL'd and Ma LOL'd!!

I was looking at your your pinks toys and I thought I spotted a familiar looking Flamingo in the bunch. I have a long-legged pink flamingo...I don't play with it much but it looks great in my corner of toys!

Super huggies and snuggles 2 u both, Autumn
