Mom says the best part was that she left before the Peach Brown Betty came out of the oven! Aunt April had choices of either ice cream or whipped cream for the top! Mom came home moaning and groaning that she was stuffed to the brim! Thanks for thinking of us and bringing us a doggie bag, mom - NOT!
This is the activity on Sunday just as mom arrived with hotdogs and hamburgers for the hungry workers!
The guys are building bents for the raising that will be in just 2 weeks!
This is the foundation where the barn will go up. The sills are already in place.
This is the cupola that will go on top of the roof on day 2 of the raising in the afternoon right before the barn feast! Steve has been super busy! What an accomplishment for him to have gotten his cupola all built and ready to go up too!
This barn will be Steve's workshop eventually. He is a cabinetmaker and builds wonderful Shaker-style furniture.
Steve built all the furniture that you see!
This is the base for his new dining room table! He's been working on getting that done along with his barn and his cupola! Mom wonders how he has time to work at his real job or cut grass or sleep but he does it all!
He did the cabinets and the mirror in his bathroom too and his sink is copper! He does awesome work!
We had a very successful workshop for Steve and he'll be ready for that raising on September 11th and 12th!
Oh goody! Another weekend that we have to stay home all alone and not get any leftovers!
We can't wait!
So until next time..................
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
Being left at home in the air conditioning is probably a bit plus--but surely there was one hamburger or hot dog you could have had!
ReplyDeleteSteve is VERY talented.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Aw, you poor, deprived doggies!...who got to stay home in the A/C and not get all hot at Steve's! Steve is an amazing craftsman! Our dad would really be impressed! We can't wait to see how the barn raising progresses! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAire-hugs,
Penny & Patches
What a great craftsman. Love the cupola.
ReplyDeleteWe love Steve's furniture, he is truly a wood artist. We have some things from the workshops in Amana Iowa with similar lines, but Steve's are much lighter looking. Thank you for showing us.
ReplyDeleteTell Mom that doggies who don't get treats may pee on carpets.
She can ask Teka if she doesn't believe it.

ReplyDeleteI would love some furniture like that, beaufiful!!
XXOO, Bambi & Fern
Wow! That Steve does some amazing work!!! But, personally, I'd leave all that 'work' stuff to the humans, and stay home in the air conditioning. I would, however, make it abundantly clear that NEXT time, the humans are not to return without a doggie bag. Even if that means stopping by Wendy's on the way home. I'm just saying...

Whoa. That furniture is really nice. I think I might like to sit on one of those chairs. Huummm.....Roo Roo, Stuart
ReplyDeleteHey M&M,
ReplyDeleteAlways with that PFDAD (Perceived Food Deficit Attention Disorder). ANother round of kibble for our friends M&M please, bar keep.
Dad says that he's glad that we don't know anyone anywhere as remotely talented and gifted as this Steve guy. Dad says life is bad enough having to meet local standards never mind having mom know someone like Steve. Sound like you had it pretty easy staying in the A/C, well except for being forced to eat all those goodies....NOT! Stay cool in the upcoming heat wave.

Wow wow wow! What a build and incredible works by Steve! This is quite a process and can't imagine the hard work doubled by high temps!
