Autumn in October

The cleome and hydrangea are still hanging in there~
Luckily, mom took this picture on Saturday.  Sunday and Monday, we had overnight lows of 20 degree temps and the hydrangeas and cleome flowers are no more.

The last of the concord grapes.   Mom said they were so sweet this year.  We wouldn't know anything about that.  Stingy hoomans~
The Virginia creeper in its autumn color~
 The Whooper swan girls~
 And the Mute swan sissies~

 The black swans~
 Poisonous jimson weed pod~
And the poisonous poke weed.  We don't come near either one of these plants.
 The lumber barn~
I, Mitch, got groomed and boy do I ever feel so much better!

We have sad news.    Our little Barnacle goose buddy, Todd, went to Rainbow Bridge yesterday.   Yes, we know, he decided to leave on our dad's birthday.    Dad is beyond sad.
You sure were one brave little fighter, Todd, and one happy little goose and we sure did love watching you motorboat through the water on your daily swims in the pond.
Rest in Peace, Todd.  We miss you lots, little buddy♥

Love ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly

  3. We don't get to see all the pretty fall colors here in Florida. Mom says she misses that since moving from Michigan so long ago.

So sorry to hear about Todd. I know he's happy swimming in all the pretty lakes at the Bridge.

  8. Oh - the black swans are just so pretty - did you ever give them names - you know black swans originated in Perth, West Australia and of coarse they live right there on the Swan River which was named after them. Maybe you name them after towns in West Australia :)

  12. That's sad about Todd. We're always sad when a furkid has to go to the Bridge. Sounds like winter is on its way to your house. Good thing everything is shipshape and ready.

  15. Thanks for the beautiful photos! Ghostwriter says she hasn't seen jimson weed in many years. Too bad it's so poisonous. The flowers are beautiful! Watch out for that mushroom too! Oh, and if the grapes get a frost, they'll make extra sweet wine called ice wine. We're so sorry about your little goose. You took good care of him.

  21. I'm so sad about Todd. I was really touched by your post about him a couple of months ago. A little goose who didn't give up. And your dad helped Todd so much, spending that time with him every day letting him spread his wings and swim. Todd was lucky to live with you - that much is certain. My sympathies to you.
