Our Sweet Boy

Mitch is at peace.  No more stumbling and crashing and falling.  No more evil diseases. He was tired and it was time.
One more walk around his yard~
 And one more drink~
And a hug from his dad before we left for the animal hospital.
As we were leaving the examining room at Central, I looked down at Mitch.    He was smiling. Maggie was welcoming him to Rainbow Bridge.

You were the sweetest boy ever, Mitch   We miss you, buddy~
Love you forever and ever♥

  59. The only thing that makes this any better is the thought that Mitch and Maggie are together again, both healthy and happy, and she is showing him where her favorite ice cream shop is. It was so much fun watchng Mitch grow up and overcome some of his fears ... like walking up the stairs... and enjoying all his stories about his new sister, Molly, after Maggie had to leave for the Bridge. Sue, deepest condolences from a long-time fan of your airedale pack and heartfelt hugs to comfort you and Mitch's dear dad, and of course Molly.

  79. We are so very sorry to hear of Mitch's passing. Though we didn't comment often we always read your posts and hoped and prayed for Mitch's health to improve.

I recently found this quote below and thought it might give you some comfort even with your broken hearts.

"Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect [or effort]. Without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. . . . Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!"

In his sermon, "The King of Terrors," Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918), Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral imagines the person in the casket saying the above words.

Blessings to all who loved and will miss Mitch. You'll have a happy reunion some time in the future when you all meet at the Bridge.
