The Farmington Canal Trail

Mom has always wanted to walk on the Farmington Canal Trail! This goes as far back as the Maggie and Mitch days.  Yesterday was our lucky day!

Stop reading boring history and let's get going, mom!
There were lots of benches dedicated to peeps along the way in case you needed to sit and rest or to just take in the beauty and hear the birdies singing away.
And there were lots of short wooden bridges.
We looked for flowers and we are sorry to say that we didn't even find one!
One neighbor along the trail had a peaceful spot set up.    The sign says, "All are welcome.  Area for rest and prayer."
And just beyond, we saw this sign☺
I think we're at the base of a Christmas tree farm!
This trail goes different directions and it has parking lots in various places not far from where we live.    We'll be going back soon to do more exploring.
Did you notice my second grey collar?
We decided to leave the Frontline Plus in the cupboard and give the Seresto collar a try.   We keep hearing great things about it!
Mom checks me for ticks TOO MANY times a day!  We can't be too careful, right!
Love ya lots♥
Molly

  3. We love the Park! Maybe the person with the meditation area would like to have your mom help with picking out plants and flowers. We would be happy to give your mom a reference, or y'all could just share your blog with Her!

  7. I would love a place like that to visit. Looks like there would be soo many smells to be sniffed! Oh boy!

Momma says back when she worked at a vet clinic the Soresto collars were furry popular! So easy and safe to use.

  11. Guess that is one of the only downsides about living in Connecticut - those ticks are relentless. Mom lived not too far from Farmington when she was in CT, and she never knew there was a Canal Trail - very nice place for a good walk.

  21. Those ticks sound scary! We are lucky so far not to have ticks in our city, but with climate change, they are getting closer and closer...

  23. It's so great that such a nice place to walk is nearby. I hope that you didn't skinny dip - especially not next to the prayer spot.

I'm glad that you're watching out for ticks. We have some now, even with a lot of snow on the ground. Shyla isn't allowed to use any anti-tick or flea stuff due to her epilepsy so we just keep checking her.

    Happy Wednesday.

  24. What a great place for you and your mom to explore!! It's nice that they have benches so people can enjoy the scenery and the birds. We look forward to more of your excursions...but you sure do look like you are enjoying that nap at the end of your exciting day!

  25. That looks like a nice place to walk. We had such a mild winter that Mom is worried about ticks. She doesn't want to use chemicals on us so she's trying natural repellants this year. She's planting mint in our yard and giving us supplements to make us unpleasant to those nasty ticks.
