Tasty Tuesday

Mom's favorite chowder is New England Clam Chowder.  She's not a huge fan of the Manhattan Style but she saw a recipe on FB that she couldn't resist.

  • 1/2 pound of bacon, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup of celery with leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, or 1 teaspoon dried
  • 1 large can (28 ounces) tomatoes,
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 2 cans (6 to 7 oz each) minced clams with juice
  • 2 bottles (8oz) clam juice
  1. Brown the diced bacon, drain the fat.
  2. Add onion, celery and saute until softened.
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients and cook until the potatoes are fork tender.
  4. Serve with some crusty bread.
  5. This soup taste even better the next day.
Mom can't remember the last time she made bacon so that was one of the draws.
The bacon and veggies are cookering away~
I got to taste a carrot and celery too!
The soup has the clam juice and potatoes added~
We are ready to dig in~
Of course, I got a cracker!
Another one, please~
And this one has chowder broth on it~
The soup was very good and very rich with all of that bacon!

Happy Tuesday!

Love ya lots♥

  1. Our mom won't go near anything with seafood or fish, not her thing at all. Most people love it and they go to the east coast to get such food. Hope your mom enjoyed her meal!

  4. Lulu: "Our Dada is with your mom, Duke, he much prefers the New England style of clam chowder! Although when he and Mama checked out a local pizza place that has a New England clam chowder pizza he didn't seem to think that was a particularly good idea ..."
