Bruce's Barn Raising

Hi everybody! It's me, Mitchy! I was at a barn raising this morning with mom! Maggie didn't get to come because mom can't handle both of us at the same time! If Maggie and I both decide that we want to see something OVER THERE - mom has to go too and if she doesn't want to - well, too bad because she's going whether she wants to or not! So it was just me this morning!

See that man with the hat on? That's my dad and the man standing next to him is the person the Northford Timber Framers are raising this barn for! His name is Bruce! I have my official NTF bandana on because I'm part of the group too!

This man's name is Gene! He's been friends with my dad forever and if Maggie ever knew that I got to say hi to her bestest boyfriend in the whole wide world, she'd never speak to me again! Maggie has known Gene since she was a very young puppy and she ADORES him!

The NTF'ers are all being introduced here! Mom and I got introduced last - dad saved the best for last, right?!

The guys are getting ready to lift their first bent! This is the exciting part!

The next two videos are bent #1 and bent #3 going up! That's my dad doing all the yelling in the videos! He has a really LOUD voice and he's the boss!

There are 4 bents (sections) that will go up today!
I was starting to get antsy just standing around and mom decided that it was time to go home and see how Maggie was doing. We walked to this barn raising this morning. It's only about 15 minutes from my house. Take a look at the farm that we went past on our way to and from the raising! That red and green stuff is lettuce and I asked mom if I could pick some and she said no! What a meanie!

Maggie is hoping to go to the raising tomorrow with mom to see how the NTF'ers are progressing! Tomorrow is the barn pawty and there's LOTS of food involved! I sure hope I can to too!

So until next time.........

Yer friend,

Mitch

  20. Mitch, how cool that you got to go to the barn raising. You are such a lucky boy. Hopefully, Maggie won't read the blog and see that you were hanging out with Gene. Hope you share pics of the finshed barn, I know we would all love to see it.

  23. Mom wants to live in an area like yours! Looks like you had some good weather today too, and she and Dennis did lots of yard work trying to make up for lost time with all the rain we've had.

  25. MitchMan!

Your mama and dad are the COOLEST parents EVER! I am proud to know any member of the NTF'ers! They look almost as fun a bunch as all of us dogs!

When your dad yells in that big booming voice, does it get you going too? I'm betting you and your mama are so proud of him!

You know, when you got home I bet Maggsie smelled good old Gene all over you. She's a smart cookie and... mmmmmm ~ cookie... and you won't fool her for a minute!

Thanks for sharing, bud. Can't wait to hear about the barn party!

    Goober love,
    Stanley

  27. That's a really cool way to build a building. My mom went to a barn raising when she was little but there was no one there to shout as loud as your dad.
