Wheelie Wednesday - Apple Crisp

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn!Mom and I are making apple crisp today! Check out this cookbook! Mom got it for Christmas in 1963 from her mom and dad! I think it could possible qualify for an antique!Mom says this is her very favorite recipe for apple crisp and it sure looks like it! The page is all stained! My job is to make the crumb topping! It's a butter, flour and brown sugar mixture! We should have known that Appleboy Mitch would appear! "Don't throw that apple peel away, Autumn! I recycle!" It's time to sprinkle the cinnamon over the diced apples! Can you see this heart-shaped teaspoon? This was one of my sissy's wedding favors to all of her guests! The tablespoon says, a heap of love - the teaspoon says, a teaspoon of laughter - the half teaspoon says, a dash of kindness - and the quarter teaspoon says, a pinch of patience! So that's the secret to a successful marriage I guess! hummmmmmmmmmm

Time to put it in the oven and bake it! Hey, I can see my reflection in the glass door!

Yummm and it smell so good too! Now to add a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream and it will be the perfect dessert for this gorgeous autumn day!

Mom and Maggie made split pea soup earlier! I can hardly wait for dindin!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  3. OMD, our mom has that very same cookbook. She even made that same apple crisp, but it was about 100 years ago. There's a chocolate cake recipe in there, that our dad makes on really cold winter nights. Mitchy it such a good recycler!

  4. mmmmmm, yummy. My muzzer has an old and ratty "joy of cooking" and a couple of others, but my sissies keep stealin' em. Then when I want pancakes, we gotta call one of them!

Muzzer says the heart shaped spoons are really cool! What a nice idea.

  13. That cookbook is really cool! Mom got some old cookbooks from her mother's house after she died. mom was totally excited because for as long as she could remember, her mother wouldn't let her touch them because they were old and fragile, now Mom can touch them all she wants he cause there's her's *insert evil laughter here*! Those teaspoons are really cool.
