My Precious Girl

I just wanted to let you all know that my sweet girl is gone.
Maggie had the saddest look in her eyes yesterday and every time that I looked at her, she was staring at me with those sad tired eyes and I knew that it was time.
George and I held her close and kissed her and told her how much we loved her and that we were going to miss her so very much as the fluid was injected into her IV.   She never closed her eyes.  That's Maggie - never wanting to miss a thing!

Good-by, my precious girl.  I will always love you, forever and ever.

Wings are not only for the birds above
for God gifted you with a dog to love

He knew the love that you could give
for he knew the perfect place for that dog to live

and as you have a void that can't be filled
remember that your memories can't be killed.

The love you gave to your four legged friend
is a gift of love that will help you to mend.

Love from above will always be felt
as the wings are added your heart will melt

When you are feeling low
you will still have a place to go

for you can always talk and share
with a friend who will always be there.

Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you until we meet again!

We love you, Maggie - now and forever
Mom, dad and Mitch

  4. We LOVE you and MISS you forever and ever Maggie. I know you will be shining down on us with your big smiley face.

I came across this quote a while ago and saved it because I thought it was very fitting for these wonderful dales.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming

    "WOW, WHAT A RIDE!"

  21. We love you guys so very very much. There are pairs of dogs in blogland where one can't say one name without the other. We are sending TONS of kisses to dear Mitch who one would assume is confused, but maybe he knows Maggie is at the beautiful garden side of the Bridge organizing the annuals! (We like to believe that the Bridge has sections...trails to chase rodents, fields to chase deer and lovely gardens to be among the flowers plus a warm house with a fireside and large pillows; all surrounded by those who have journeyed prior. All is PEACE except for the terrier garden where they can scrap and play to their heart's content.) Our sadness is for those left behind...accept our condolences: Maggiie was a huge part of your lives. The path to healing from grief is a journey. We will be walking beside you. So much love to you, Marilyn and the kids....

  24. Oh no, Maggie.
My mom cried quietly when she read the post this morning. The title my precious girl caught her attention.
How precious you were Maggie, you were your pawrents' little beloved girl and you will always be.
I still remember the day we shared the prize popular boy& girl. You and I wore our favorite hats and we both won it. Last night when my mom gave insulin shot to my brother Ximui, she caressed his fur thinking Ximui now is 13 and then she thought of Honey, then of you. Why you?
Maggie, when my mom read about your saddest eyes, she cried again. Only a mother would know what a child silently telling her.
Hugs to Mitch and your pawrents. We'll miss you 'til we see you again, Maggie.

  46. It's through tears that I read about Maggie, remember her sweet gentle soul, and realize the love that surrounded her in her home in Connecticut and, through the blessing of blogland, all around the world. Reading comments that others have left make it obvious: Maggie (and Mitch and you as an entire family) are cherished in the hearts of so many. Feelings of sadness are so overwhelming right now, but knowledge that Maggie knew of the love that she did ... right up to the very end of her life on earth ... eases the pain just a little. We are so grateful for memories that will last forever, and we feel so blessed to have shared ... even in just in a small way ... in her life with you. Give Mitch a big hug from us ... and know we carry you close in our hearts today, and always.

Much love from Sally, Jake, Fergi and NinaGirl

Sometimes the news on blogger is like a stab in the heart. Today is one of those days. Like so many others have said, Maggie was one of the Barkies' first pals when we started blogging - and seeing one of her loving messages always made our day.

She was indeed a precious girl, and we'll all miss her. I hope knowing how many people loved her helps in some small way fill the huge hole she has left in your hearts and your home.

Extra scritches and treats to Mitch, who must be feeling so confused -- as are we, as to why such a sweet girl had to leave us so soon. But it's always too soon.

  114. As I type this I sit with huge tears welled up in my eyes. I could hardly read your post to my husband.

I am so very, very sorry to read that your beloved Maggie has crossed the rainbow bridge. Heaven now has a precious Airdale to grace the green hills and streets of gold. Yes, earth is temporary and Heaven holds the promise of eternity...never, never having to say goodbye. We just lost our kitty, Miss Socks, on 1-16. I prayed for her to die at home that morning and God answered my prayer.

God bless you. Mitch is going to miss his sister.

    Tears for you...
