Mr. Carrot

From the time I was about a year old I have had a love affair with Mr. Carrot. I've had, I think, about ten Mr. Carrots so far. Mom was grocery shopping one day and came across this orange man with a VERY LOUD voice. She couldn't stop laughing and the rest is history. He's been in my life ever since. My first Mr. Carrot lasted for a pretty long time despite the fact that I was young and everybody knows that we youngun's like to chew! I was bored one day and I was out to shut that orange man up! I discovered how to jab my tooth into his squeaker and silence him (that'll teach ya, HA!) Mom was NOT to happy about this seeing as his voice is part of his charm. Mom says nothing is more hilarious than to see me race through the house with that orange "cigar" sticking out of my mouth.

But it's not just the toy, Mom has made a Mr. Carrot dish and a pillow; she even tried to make a needle felting of me with the orange boy but it doesn't come close to comparing with the one that Carol Usher created!

Mom is part of the Airedale Quilting bee and Mr. Carrot has shown up in her quilt blocks a couple of times.

The above block was from the Airelifted quilt. And this one is from the Annette's House quilt. Mr. Carrot is making the patient feel better! LOL

So now you can see why me and this orange man are connected.
By the way, it seems that the company who makes Mr. Carrot has changed him somewhat and mom is madder than a wet hen! The new Mr. Carrot has pink lips instead of red - YUK! and his squeaker is a mamby pamby one - not the "generous" one that we've come to love, so now mom is on a Mr. Carrot hunt for the one and only original! So if in your travels you see this little man with red lips, not pink ones and you give him the old squeeze and he totally delights you with a loud SQUEAK, then buy one for yourself and please write and tell my mom where you got him so she can buy them ALL!!!

Until next time..............

Maggie

  2. Wowie Maggie, you have so many Mr. Carrots!! I used to have a stuffy bone that I loved so much, and mum kept buying them after the squeakers died, but they don't make them anymore...... SIGH....

Oh about your link, you didn't put in the "www." you had "http://" instead. So if you take out the http:// and put in www, it should work no problem!!

  4. Hey Maggie,

As Sunshade said, that's a cool collection of carrots. I kill squeaky toys within minutes, so I don't think my mum would be as good as yours & keep buying me new ones. I still play with 'em when they don't squeak anyway. The only one I haven't killed is my pink squeaky (mum calls it my "Big Gay Bone" cos it's bright pink). I love that far too much to destroy it.

My mum says your mum & her friends are so talented. She can just about sew a button on she says!
