Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn!
A few days ago was the unveiling of the Airedale quilting bee's 2008 quilt that gets raffled off at the dog show in Montgomery, Pennsylvania in October! The bee has been working for a whole year on this quilt - from deciding on a theme to choosing a block that depicts what your dog is doing in a twenty-four hour day, to assembling the quilt and quilting the quilt and then finally marketing the quilt and hoping that it makes TONS of money for Airedale rescue! This years' quilt is "A Day in the Life"! Isn't it a beauty?!
Mom contributed two blocks this year. The first block was planned! Maggie and Mitch both love to bark their heads off to let mom know that the mailman has arrived! We don't have a mail slot - we have a mailbox down by the road! Poor mom would never be able to read her mail in one piece if we had the slot!
This block was a last minute - beat-the-deadline block. One of the other quilters had personal problems and mom stepped up to the plate! It's a therapy dog bringing joy to a lady!
Just so you know, mom does not draw her own patterns! Our quilting bee has artists that draw for us! It makes it a whole lot stressful for those of us who can't even draw a simple stick figure! A lady named, Linda did the patterns for mom!
Isn't this block adorable? It's called Cat Dreams !
This Dale is helping his mom wash the dishes!
This guys is getting his teeth brushed!
This Dale found the inside of his daddy's shoe and he's returning it to him! haha
Each block is a work of art and is part of an Airedale's day! If you'd like to see each block up close and personal and read about each artist, click on this link and keep clicking "next" at the bottom of the page -- http://www.airedalerescue.net/a_day_in_the_life/index.htm
Our Queen bee, Jeri, will also be running contests and doing fun things to promote the quilt. Mom has donated one of her hand knit felted purses as one of the incentive gifts to help sell raffle tickets.
Mom will be buying her raffle tickets soon and hoping to win this beauty!! Thank you in advance for supporting Airedale Rescue!
See you next Wednesday!
Love, Autumn

Oh Autumn...we had already seen the quilt...we had no idea that ur mom had done two of the squares!!! It's absolutely bootiful! Does ur mom sell any of her work? We adore the bandanas she's made...we wondered if she does other work?? Let us know! Gilbert was supposed to do a Wheelie post today, but it didn't happen...so it might be delayed a tad due to his procrastination....Strong reportin' on the quilt, Autumn...we have to buy tickets!

I just printed off the form to send in with a check for tickets but I can't find anything that tells whether or not they will mail that quilt or you have to be present. Do you know how they plan to handle an out of town winner? Not that I expect to be THAT lucky but you never know.

ReplyDeleteI'm Tuffy the chihuahua. Nice to meet you. My mom said those quilt squares are so adorable.
Hi Mitch and Maggie - this is Winston and Clementine the pugs' mommy. I found you through Sophie and Dixie's blog and wanted to let you know that with their help we have come up with a new contest to follow up SNPM - check out our latest blog entry for all the details and let us know if you'd like to participate - your humans look pretty crafty and I think they'd be perfect for this!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous - the talent, time and detail that goes into that is unbelievable. Our mom says she is suddenly feeling useless - it is ok we gave her a hug.
ReplyDeletewat a great collection of airedale quilt.... awesome
ReplyDeleteYay - we're so glad you guys are participating in the contest!! You won't be the only non-pugs - there are two Boston Terriers who have signed up so far and a rat terrier and JRT - so it's pugs and terriers, I guess!
