Trouble Tuesday

Mom discovered Sunday night that I was scooting on my hiney.   No - I don't have anal gland issues.   It feels good to scratch my stitches itch.   Carpets are abrasive and we have wall-to-wall carpeting here.

Monday morning, mom called the vet and sadly, he was not available to talk with today.   We searched the intermutts and they suggested Benadryl,  which mom would never do as we don't know how that would react with my prescription drugs that I'm taking post surgery.   The other suggestion was a diaper.

Mom was out on her errand on Monday and she decided to buy a package of diapers.  Geez, she didn't need 16 of them!   We did find directions about how to put them on me and to cut a hole for my tail to stick out of.

To make a long story shorter - the diaper slide off my shiny slippery furs in about ten minutes.
And because the diaper didn't work, mom still has my scooting issue to scratch my itch issue to deal with.  Once again, I will be hearing a lot of,  "Stop that, Duke".   We will be talking with my vet today and hopefully,  he will come up with the perfect plan.

The one good thing that did happen - I got one of my squeaky balls back☺

Thank you all so very much again for all of the wonderful get well wishes.   I sure hope I'm healing with all of this other crazy stuffs going on.

Love ya lots♥

Aha... so the cone isn't necessary because you have a back up plan...... BOL... oh dear. Maybe just a little cold cream on the stitches every now and then will take the itch out? Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  2. Your mom should buy some panties that we girls had to wear when we were in heat before we had our surgeries. They stay on because they are made for dogs. Hopefully she can talk to the vet today.

  3. You're a clever boy, Duke, but do as your mom says so you don't rip your stitches out.

  4. You do have a back up plan. No pun intended. You are driving mom over the cliff too. I know it itches, but it has to heal.

    Big hug to mom. ♥

  5. Duke OMDs first of all not good to scratch stitches and now that is out of the way. I must say it took
some serious figuring on your part to realize that the carpet was a good tushie scratchers.
Wonder if there is some type of dog friendly anti itch ointment that would help

  6. OH DEAR!!!! That sounds pretty embarrassing and very itchy, Duke! I have had derriere issues in the past and our vet recommended sponging the area a couple of times a day with diluted (1 part to 2 parts water) Betadyne. It worked well. It's very soothing. Anyway, I hope your vet can. help you, buddy!

  8. Maybe a little neosporin on the area would help, or even Vaseline. Hope Mom finds a solution.

  11. Chaplin: "Hmm, Dennis had a belly band for a while when he was having some, uh, issues down there. Maybe something like that would work?"
Charlee: "The belly band actually stayed on him and believe us it is not easy getting anything to stay on with that smooth vizsla fur he had!"

  12. Sorry to hear about your itch🥴, I think Mom is very smart to cut a hole for your tail. Your shiny, glossy fur probably makes everything impossible to stay on..

Hang in there a little while more. Remember with each day you are getting closer.

    Heal nicely.. Good job, Mom!
