True Colors - The Challenge

We are taking Blue up on her challenge!
This lovely poem is called, "The Colours" and it's by Christina Rossetti

What is pink? a rose is pink
By a fountain's brink. - Okay, so they're raindrops, not a fountain!

What is red? a poppy's red
In its barley bed. " - our red silk poppies are blooming in the vase!

"What is blue? the sky is blue
Where the clouds float thro'. - this weathervane and cupola are on top of Dad's barn.

What is white? a swan is white
Sailing in the light. - this is Dauby and she's swimming on our pond!

What is yellow? pears are yellow,
Rich and ripe and mellow.

What is green? the grass is green,
With small flowers between. - Are we fooling anyone with the silk flowers?!

What is violet? clouds are violet
In the summer twilight. - ahhhhhhhhhhh, Nantucket! Our favorite spot on Earth! This photo is from our summer vacation last year!

What is orange? Why, an orange,
Just an orange!" - You're not supposed to eat the fake orange, Mitch! You're ruining the picture!
That was fun, Blue!

So until next time....................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  3. All cool things once again! We just love the swan, weathervane and cupola!

Hope you had a silent 4th AND 5th! We only barked at the fireworks twice! Once on each night! We were very lucky...not many fireworks around here.

  27. We are just fascinated by Dauby.

When Mom used to live in Tulsa, they had a park called Swan Lake with a swan family living there. Such beautiful creatures. Mom says I would be bad if I ever saw a swan. Whatever...

  32. We love poetry and kept going back to read it over and over, looking at the pretty pictures. Our Girl noticed the lovely heart shaped cloud in the blue sky photo, behind the weathervane on the barn. She's got love on her mind and we agree, that's our favorite picture. It's even got a "cupid" (we know, we know) shooting an arrow through the heart!

Nice job, you two! We expected no less!
