Wheelie Wednesday - Harvesting Lavender

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
Mom and I picked a whole basketful of lavender yesterday! We need to decide how best to use it besides just taking deep whiffs and saying AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I was wheeling around in the garden to see what else was in bloom! Isn't this red Lupine the prettiest color?!
Mom sprinkles lots of seed packets every year and she never knows what colors will come up! It's a surprise - a nice surprise!
This Astilbe is red too! It grows in the shade portion of the garden!
Mom was ecstatic to discover this beautiful white Shirley Poppy in bloom! Mom loves ALL poppies! There are a lot of poppy buds so we're hoping that we get other colors besides white!
This is our only rose bush, other than the thorny Rugosa Rose! Mom has horrible luck with roses! Do you think maybe it's because she doesn't feed or spray them when she's supposed to?!Look what we found blooming outside! It's a fragrant Gardenia! Another AHHHHHHHHHH smell! We've had so much rain that there's no sense in leaving this beautiful bloom outside to get mushy and ruined! So we picked it and brought it inside to enjoy!
Our country's Independence day just happens to be this coming Saturday and mom and I made a red, white and blue flower arrangement to help celebrate it!
See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  1. Happy Wheelie Wednesday, Autumn! Your flowers are all gorgeous! We don't have ANY rosebushes anymore. Our mom has awful luck with them. The last 2 we had were called Roses for Dummies, but our dummie mom even killed THEM! Happy 4th of July!

I am taking some virtual deep whiffies of that dolce lavendar, la mia amica and it smells meraviglioso!! And that bellissima arrangement of red, white and blue fiori for the 4th is much prettier than all the noisy, scary fireworks put together!!

Your mama definitely has a green thumb!!

    Tanti baci!

  5. Your garden seems to be thriving despite the relentless rain lately.

What a lovely arrangement of holiday blossoms.

Me? I am almost afraid of the vegetable garden at this point. The vegies all seem to be mutating.

  12. Lovely flowers, we donts have many roses as the possums eat them, occasonaly we eat a possum buts they eats all our garden, they donts eats the lavender. Mums takes off the heads, the lavender not the possums, puts it in a bottle and fills it up with white or cider vinegar, leave it in the sun and give a shake every so often for a couple of weeks to however long you want, strain it an use it on yourself or your mums to keep insects off yous

  13. Oh no, now Mom is really wishing to get her house built so she can have surprise flowers. She thinks that is a really wonderful idea. If lavender will grow around here, we are pretty sure it will be included.

You have a gardenia bloom? Mom is jealous of that too. Her gardenia bush bloomed in May and now it is too hot. She is feeding it so maybe she will be able to get another round of blooms out of it. Your picture has made her hope it will happen.

We love the flower arrangement! Your mom is very talented. Yet another thing for our Mom to find inspiration?

  14. Hi Autumn

Loved all the pretty flowers and especially the lavender. The little man's mum sews little lavender bags every year to put in her linen cupboard. She sews and the little man fills them up!

    Take care

  28. Maybe if you put some of the lavender in a tiny satin pillow case and sent it to Asta's mommi, it would help her neck pain and head ache. That's what Moma liked to do when she lived where she had lavender to pick. We hear her mumbling that she needs to plant some more. Your lovely flower garden is what got her thinking about what she wishes we had at home.

    So pretty,

  35. Oh, Autumn!

My girl and I are remembering your mama's bootiful garden ~ hard to believe it's even more bootiful now than when we saw it. Good thing your mama got those red Crocs. Now you won't be able to lose her if she starts wandering around witihout you.

Your Auntie Lydia sounds like a fabulously sweet lady. The painting you all had done for her is very cool, and I wouldn't mind being on her cookie list. Everything she sent was just perfect. I can totally see your mama wearing that pin.

LOVED the tongue pics. I have one almost exactly like that one of yours, Maggsie ~ with my teefers showing (I'm going for ice cream in that photo just like you).

Sorry I haven't been by for a few days. I had to catch up with all you've been doing! Give your mama a big juicy smooch from me & a hug from my girl, okay?

    Goober love & smooches,
    Stanley
