Wheelie Wednesday - Tomatoes

Hi everyone.  It's me, Autumn!
Guess what we picked in our garden today?
These are all heirloom tomatoes.
We weren't even sure that we were going to have a garden this year because of the Crump barn project.  It takes up so much of mom and dad's time but dad insisted on planting a dozen or so plants.  Unfortunately, we didn't buy seeds and we planted plants that our friend Lauren gave us and our friend Suzanne gave us and we sorta don't know what variety they are.

One year we grew heart tomatoes but this isn't a heart tomato, although it does look like one!
These "heart" tomatoes have mottling on them and dad says they are very sweet.
Mom calls this one a smokey tomato and dad insists that this one is a Cherokee Purple!
Not sure what this huge yellowish one is either but we like its pretty color!
The ones in this basket are Fourth of July tomatoes.  We will always grow 4th's! They are always the first ones to turn red in the garden and the last ones to go  once the frost hits!  These plants keep on going - like the energizer bunny - they just never quit!
I'm thinking that we'll be eating salads every night for the rest of the summer!  yummmmmmmmmmm

See you all next Wednesday!
Love,
Autumn

  2. Mom loves tomatoes. She tried to grow to varietys this year, and all the tomatoes came out smaller than dimes. She was so disappointed!

  3. Oooooo! You have such pretty tomatoes! Our mom planted 2 yellow tomato plants in pots, on our deck. They started out really well, but then the heat really slowed them down. It looks like they have quit growing completely, but Mom keeps watering and babying them in hopes of a few more tomatoes before they die completely!

  9. Maggie and Mitch-
You dogs are so lucky! No one in Portland has tomatoes yet, just Cherry Tomatoes. It has been too cold. Maybe this weekend, it's going to be 90 again!

  17. Those tomatoes are beautiful! Especially like the heart-shaped one! Mommy's not really a green thumb but always wanted to try the tomatoes that grow upside down, like on the infomercial!

Yes, I have quite a tan but surprisingly no tan lines from my bikini ;) Thanks for the comments on my blog!
