True Colors Thursday - Blue and White Together

True colors Thursday rolls around once again! If you want to play, give Blue a shout!
Today's color is blue and white together!

The pretty dolly works for this week's blue and white together color scheme!
This red ware plate is both blue and white together! This little blue and white house is inside the beehive oven that's in our kitchen. Our house was built in 1824. This is one of mom's very favorite CD's! She just loves the movie "Sound of Music"!This flower vase is blue and white!
These Delft houses were given to our gram each time she flew on KLM Aire-lines! They used to have brandy inside of them but not any more!

This painting was painted by our great grandmother! She was a very talented lady - not only with paints but also with needlework. Mom tells us that she used to make her own yogurt from scratch! We've never had that!
Next week's color is puce!
According to the American Heritage Dictionary, deep red to dark grayish purple.

dark puce colour:

So until next time..............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  1. Brillant post!

    The doll is lovely.
Am impressed with the age of your house, it's older than mine - LOL!
And as I was planning to show of my own Delftware it was nice to see yours.
Off to listen to the Sound of Music now!

  4. We were glad to see what puce looks like - we had no idea - we think we might have called it mauve. From the looks of things, Mom and Dad had puce and dark puce for their wedding colours.

You have a lot of great blues and whites. We've got to get on it today. All Mom has to do is go in the kitchen and start taking photos - she has collected blue and white dishes for ages.

  10. Hubby got one of those Delft cottages when he flew KLM in 2007 en route to Africa when he and our son climbed (and summited!) Kilimanjaro. I thought that was a nice touch. I wonder if they still give them out.

Love your beehive oven and your great grandmother's artwork. She sounds like she was amazing. You should consider doing a post about her...xoxo

  25. Love your blue and white collection! LS was looking at your little houses and say they look very familiar. Then she realised that she has quite a large collection of them too! Yes, from KLM air lines! They had brandy inside? LS said it doesn't taste like brandy.

'Scuse us. We were just digging around in the pantry for the yogurt maker. You whetted our appetites!

  30. ha ha! My Jeannie knows the songs to the Sound of Music off by heart!

She also knows them in the order of the film, she drives my Pa mad when we go for a long drive, because she sings them in the car.

    And she can't sing............

  35. My Grampa used to work for KLM so you better believe they have those houses, a few of them. LOL. That is part of the reason Dad loves Amsterdam, he got to go a lot.

  37. Hi, Maggie and Mitch -

Mama also likes The Sound of Music - she saw the movie many times.

Your house is a lot older than our house. Ours was built in 1906. Mama, Kaci and I love the blue and white vase.
